Sola Takes 9th, DMR Narrowly Misses School Record

SEATTLE - The Cal State Fullerton women's indoor track and field team completed the first day of competition at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Championships in Seattle on Friday night. Sophomore Bertha Sola had the best performance of the day as she took ninth place in the weight throw. She tied her personal best with a toss of 55-2 (16.81m).

The women's distance medley relay team of seniors Stephanie Cortez (1,200m), Mia Franco (400m), Sandra Flores (800m) and Samantha Huerta (1,600m) clocked a time 11:41.31 to take 11th place overall in the timed final. The quartet just narrowly missed breaking the school record of 11:41.06 set at the 2019 MPSF Championships.

Sophomore Hailey Murdica led the Titans in both the 60-meter sprint preliminary and the 200-meter sprint timed final with times of 7.72 (24th place) and 25.42 (30th place), respectively. Freshman Amir'a Edmond ran both events as well and posted times of 7.73 (28th place) and 25.71 (36th place). In the 60-meter hurdles, sophomores Karyn Best (21st place) and Ku'ulei Moku (27th place) posted times of 8.89 and 9.42, respectively, in the preliminary round.

Junior Mariah Lark cleared 12-1.5 (3.70m) in the pole vault to take 16th place overall. 

Competition resumes at 10 a.m. PT on Saturday.
