SEATTLE – Cal State Fullerton women's track and field began competition at the UW Invitational on Friday evening in Seattle and the Titans set a new school record at Washington's Dempsey Indoor complex.
The quartet of Alyssa Block (1,200 meters), Karyn Best (400 meters), Sandra Flores (800 meters) and Trinity Ruelas (mile) clocked a school-record time of 12:03.57 in the women's distance medley relay. They bested the previous record of 12:05.41 set in 2017.
Lucina Vincent made her collegiate track and field debut on Friday night with a 5K-time of 17:41.31, just off the school record of 17:40.72 set by Wendi Leos in 2018.
Best made her individual collegiate debut as well, running the 60-meter hurdles 9.12 to take 21st place overall. Tammy Vien also competed in the event and posted a time of 9.50.
The meet resumes in Seattle on Saturday morning.
