Fullerton Travels to UW Invitational


FULLERTON, Calif. --- The Cal State Fullerton indoor track and field team will enter its second week of competition at the UW Invitational held at Dempsey Indoor in Seattle on Friday and Saturday.

THE FIELD: The following teams will be included in Dual Meet Scoring: California, Pepperdine, Oregon State, Seattle, Cal Poly, Gonzaga, Stanford, Idaho, and Washington. All other Division-I schools will be scored using invitational scoring.

RESULTS: Results will be available via Flotrack. 

NOTES FOR THE UW INVITATIONAL

Long Jump:
Freshman Naiah Boardingham placed fourth in the women's long jump last week at the Lumberjack Team Challenge, but her mark of 18' 8.5" set a new Titan indoor record previously held by Montiqua Sargent with a jump of 18'4" from 2002. Boardingham will compete in the long jump along with Brooke Hardge, Onyx Gaston, Laura Hamann and Kyra Anderson.

High Jump: Adrianna Reagan recorded a personal best with her mark of 5'7" which tied for first in the high jump field at the Lumberjack Team Challenge. She will compete again along with Ty'Jalayah Robertson.

Pole Vault:
Last week at the Lumberjack Team Challenge, junior Arielle Bray placed first in the women's pole vault with a mark of 11'11.75", setting a new personal best for the Upland, Calif., native. She will compete again along with Shelby Noble, Alysse McMillen and Bryn Williamson.

Triple Jump:
Laura Hamann and Onyx Gaston finished second and third, respectively, in the triple jump producing marks of 36'4.75" and 36'2.75" at the Lumberjack Team Challenge on Saturday. They will compete once again along with Ifunanya Gwacham and Ty'Jalayah Robertson.

4x400-Meter Relay: Fullerton's 4x400-meter relay team of Zuri Henderson, Morgan Love, Fanny Giron and Kiana Clay placed second at the Lumberjack Team Challenge with a time of 3:52.50. The quartet will compete again this weekend.

For the first time this season, the Titans will compete in the 800 meters (Fanny Giron) and pentathlon (Ifunanya Gwacham, Jordan Agnew)

LONGEST-TENURED COACH: As the 2017 season gets underway, cross country and track and field head coach John Elders enters his 29th season at the helm of each program making him the longest tenured head coach in the history of Cal State Fullerton.

Elders was tied with former fencing head coach Heizaburo Okawa (1982-2006) and former men's soccer coach Al Mistri (1981-2005) for 25 years of service at Fullerton. The Orange County native is coach of cross country, women's indoor track and field, and men's and women's outdoor track and field.

UP NEXT: The Titans will travel split squads to the Husky Invitational (Feb. 10-11) in Seattle and the Don Kirby Invitational (Feb. 10-11) in Albuquerque, N.M.
