FULLERTON, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton women’s soccer team will have one of its contests broadcast on ESPN3 while the women’s volleyball team will be showcased twice on the network, the Big West Conference announced Wednesday.
The Titans’ three combined appearances on ESPN3 are tied for the third most in the conference. Long Beach State will be on the network five times; all volleyball contests, while CSUN and UC Irvine will be showcased four times in 2014.
Overall, ESPN3 will telecast 11 Big West women’s volleyball matches and two women’s soccer contests in 2014. All nine schools in the conference will be featured at least once.
The Titans will lead off the television schedule as their Big West Conference opener will be broadcast on ESPN3 when they welcome defending conference tri-champion CSUN to Titan Gym on Sept. 26.
The Titans will wrap up their televised schedule on the volleyball court when they host Hawai’i, which was also crowned as a Big West Conference tri-champion in 2013. It will be the second matchup of the season between the two teams and will also be the Rainbow Wahine’s third and final appearance on ESPN3 when they travel to Titan Gym.
The following day, the Titans will take to the soccer field as the defending Big West Tournament champions will host defending regular-season conference champion Cal Poly at Titan Stadium at 2 p.m. on Senior Day. It is the final home contest scheduled for the Titans and will be the last of two Big West Conference soccer matches telecast on ESPN3 in 2014.
Fullerton opens the 2014 women’s soccer season officially with four straight home matches, beginning with 22nd-ranked BYU on Friday at 7 p.m. The Titans will also host Michigan State (4 p.m., Aug. 24), No. 25 Denver (7 p.m., Aug. 29) and Georgia (1 p.m., Aug. 31).
As for the volleyball team, Cal State Fullerton will host the Alumni Match on Saturday at Titan Gym and then kick off the 2014 regular season on Aug. 29 when they host the Titan Classic, opening the tournament against Bucknell.
