FULLERTON, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton junior Savahna Costello is looking to earn a spot on the USA National Team this weekend as she participates in their open tryout in Colorado Springs, Colo.
The Riverside native is one of 47 liberos looking to earn their spot. There are 213 athletes total that will be participating in the event.
The tryout will involve four sessions with three waves per session. Friday's first session goes from 1-7 p.m. PT, while Saturday's two sessions are at 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. The final session on Sunday begins at 6:30 a.m. PT with tournament style play, along with 16-18 athletes selected by the U.S. Women's National Team staff to participate in a "USA" training session. The Sunday session wraps up at 9:30 a.m. PT.

Costello proved herself to be one of the best liberos in the country this season as she ranked 13th in the nation averaging 5.40 digs per set. Her 531 total digs on the year is the sixth most in Titan single-season history as she posted double-digit digs in every match but two this season. Costello currently ranks sixth all-time in total digs for her career with 1,197.
The 5'5 libero is coming off her best season yet earning an All-Big West Honorable Mention at the end of the year. She also earned Big West Defensive Player of the Year honors this season as well as the Windy City Invitational Most Valuable Player and the UC Riverside Classic All-Tournament Libero.
