IRVINE, Calif. –  The Titans women's tennis team defeated UC Irvine on Thursday during the quarterfinals of the Big West Championships.

In doubles, Natalie Duffy/YuSeung Suh dropped their match in a close one, 4-6. The Titans were able to tie it up after No.1 doubles Misaki Kobayashi/Eira Tobrand beat their opponents 6-4. The pressure then fell on No. 2 doubles, Jadie Acidera/Camila Garcia who were in a battle against the Anteaters. It was game, set, match after Garcia hit a backhand volley crosscourt to win 7-5. 

In singles, No. 4 Natalie Duffy picked up the second win for the Titans after beating her opponent in straight sets, 6-4, 6-0. Juliette Daries  took care of business at No. 6 singles by defeating her in a quick 6-0, 6-4. The Titans would close out the match against the Anteaters once Eira Tobrand got the fourth win for the team. Tobrand had a tight first set, 7-5, but cruised through the second set, 6-1, to secure Thursday's win. 

This is the third time this season that the Titans have defeated the Anteaters. The post-season win has increased the Titans to a 6-match win streak.

The final score for the Titans was 4-0.

Titans will head into the semifinals of the Big West Championships on Friday, April 30th to go up against Cal Poly.
