FULLERTON, Calif. – Coming off of an impressive 15-6 record in 2018-19, Cal State Fullerton women's tennis head coach Diane Matias will look to achieve similar success, while having the challenge of replacing five seniors, including two All-Big West performers.
Five Titans return, including two-time All-Big West Singles player, Genevieve Zeidan. The veterans will be joined by four newcomers to the program. Coach Matias wants the team to demonstrate a blue-collar mentality. "I want them to work hard, show up every day and bring a good attitude," said coach Matias.
The 2019-20 Titans will have a strong international flavor, with student-athletes from Australia, Portugal, Taiwan, Japan, Hungary, South Korea, Sweden and the United States.
The team will open the season on October 11-13 at the Beach Tennis Tournament at the Rhodes Tennis Center in Long Beach, Calif. Participating teams will include host Long Beach State, Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Northridge, UC Irvine, UC Riverside, Loyola Marymount, Washington State, Portland and Portland State.
The three-day Beach Tennis Tournament will consist of four flights of singles and two flights of doubles. Start times are 10:00 a.m. on Friday, and 9:00 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
