Season Comes to an End Against Long Beach State

INDIAN WELLS, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton fell short against Long Beach State this Saturday in the Semifinals of the Big West Tournaments.

After reaching the Semifinals for the third time in three years, Fullerton ends the season with a 15-6 record after their loss against Long Beach State.
Long Beach State moves to a 16-5 record and advances to the Big West Championship finals where they will face Hawai'i.
The Titans entered the Big West tournament as the No.2 seed which is the highest seed in program history.
With only 6 losses, they match the seasons of 2016 and 2018 for second lowest number of losses. The first one being only four losses in 2017 season.
Five Titans played their last match for Cal State Fullerton: Karla Portalatin, Sarah Nuno, Caisey Lee Emery, Luxizi Meng and Masako Makiba.

DOUBLES
The first win of the day came on Court No.3 where Jadie Acidera and Genevieve Zeidan were able to beat Zara Lennon and Carlota Casasampere 6-3.

Long Beach State's answer came not long after. Caisey Lee Emery and Makiba Masako came short against Natalia Munoz and Lalita Devarakonda 2-6.

The first point of the day came down to whoever wins on Court No.1. Karla Portalatin and Sarah Nuno did just that as they won 6-4 against Wiktoria Rutkowska and Dominique Meyer.

The Titans were up 1-0 before starting the singles.

SINGLES
Karla Portalatin could not find her rhythm at No.1 and saw Wiktoria Rutkowska win the two sets 6-4, 6-1 giving Long Beach State their first point of the day.

Eira Tobrand was facing Sadaf Sadeghvaziri at No.6. The Titan fell in two sets 6-0, 6-2.

Long Beach State picked up their third point thanks to Natalia Munoz winning in straight sets against Genevieve Zeidan at No.3.

Luxizi Meng went down 2-6 in the first set before winning the second one 6-3. In the third set, Meng saw her opponent score six games in a row and take the third set, the match and give Long Beach State the victory and their ticket for the Big West Championship match.
