Five More Wins on Day Two of the CSUF Spring Invite

FULLERTON, Calif. – The Titans picked up five more wins on Day Two of the CSUF Spring Invite.

Early in the morning, the Titans were able to get two wins in doubles play. It is Caisey-Lee Emery and Jadie Acidera who made it look easy and won 6-2 against Marcinkevica and Schroer from Fresno State University.

Not long after, Tiani Jadulang who was paired up with a player from University of Pacific, won on the same score against another duo from Fresno State, Hummel and Ellis.

The singles matches against Santa Clara University ended up being long battles as five games out of seven required a third set to determine a winner.

Eira Tobrand had a strong performance and was the first one to finish her game. She won her two sets against Gevargiz on the score of 6-2.

Jadulang who won her doubles match in the morning made it two with her win against Frankel. Off to a bad start, losing her first set, Jadulang was able to win the two other sets. Final score: 4-6,6-4,6-4.

Another impressive comeback was made by Petra Such in the longest game of the day. After losing her first set 2-6, Such was able to win the second set 6-3. In the third set, an intense battle pushed her and her opponent to play a final tiebreaker. Del Carmen was able to get 4 match points as she was up 6-2 in the tiebreaker. Such did not give her opponent a chance to end the game and went on a 6-point streak to win the tiebreaker 8-6 and take the game.

Luxizi Meng, Jadie Acidera and Caisey-Lee Emery were off to a good start after winning the first set but were not able to finish the game in the second set. The Santa Clara players were able to come back and win it all in the third set.

For the final day of the CSUF Spring Invite, the Titans will first play Denver in three doubles matches this Sunday at 9am PT.
