LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The Titans showed a strong performance on the final day of the Women of Troy Invitational hosted by USC on Sunday. Cal State Fullerton was able to pick up five more wins on the day.
After winning two games yesterday, Jadie Acidera won again on Sunday. She is now on a three-match winning streak. She played Arizona's Gitte Heynemans and earned a comeback victory after losing the first set 3-6, 6-1,10-7.
Eira Tobrand was able to get her first win of the weekend against Taylor Tamblyn of Arizona. She finished the game in two sets 7-5, 6-2.
The three other wins came in doubles play. After competing in ITA Women All- American tournament two weeks ago, the duo of Karla Portalatin and Sarah Nuno were back together. The doubles team went 1-1 this Sunday, as they defeated Oregon's tandem 6-3 but lost 6-3 vs USC team of Kulikov and Valdes. Genevieve Zeidan and Nuno dominated Arizona's tandem 6-3 to secure an easy doubles victory.
Masako Makiba and Luxizi Meng teamed up in the last match of the weekend against Arizona's doubles team of Heynemans and Zandberg. The match was dominated by the Titans, 6-2 to close out the weekend. .
