FULLERTON, Calif. – After playing five straight home matches, the Cal State Fullerton women's tennis team continues Big West play on the road this week at UC Davis this Friday, April 4 at 2 p.m.

The Titans (5-13, 0-5) are looking to record their first conference win of the season and snap its current two-match losing streak after dropping matches to New Mexico State and Cal State Northridge last week.

Fullerton News & Notes

Cal State Fullerton enters the week coming off a 4-3 loss to New Mexico State and a 6-1 loss to conference foe Cal State Northridge at the Titan Tennis Courts.

Senior Morgan McIntosh won both of her doubles matchups with freshman Camille De Leon last week to improve to 8-9 in the No. 1 doubles position. Also, Junior Jessica Pepa and redshirt junior Megan Sanford each earned a win in single contests.

Freshman Alexis Valenzuela (13-3), who is currently on a 12-match singles winning streak, did not compete in singles action last week. The West Covina, Calif., native winning streak is tied with Caroline Freeman for the best streak since 2004.

In singles dual action, Fullerton sports a record of 48-60 (.444), although the top three spots hold a winning record of 32-22 (.593), while the bottom three positions in the lineup have struggled at 16-38 (.296).

Fellow rookie Camille De Leon boasts a 10-8 record, playing in the No. 3 in the lineup, while McIntosh is 9-9 in the No. 1 position.

In doubles play, the Titans are 24-29 (.453) and a team of Sandford and Valenzuela are 3-0 this season. Fullerton has compiled five losses this season – to Loyola Marymount (Feb. 9), UC Irvine (Feb. 13), UC Santa Barbara (Feb. 23), Georgetown (Mar. 8), and Wyoming (Mar. 21) – due to the loss of the doubles point which proved to be the difference.

UC Davis (10-6, 2-2 Big West) enters Friday's match currently on a five-game winning streak, with its last loss coming three weeks ago versus UC Santa Barbara (6-1). Cal State Fullerton faced the Aggies last season on Mar. 16 and UCD defeated the Titans 6-1 at the Titan Tennis Courts.

Senior Megan Heneghan leads the Aggies as she has a 14-9 singles record and has won her past four matches, while freshman Frederique Sleiffer currently has a six-match singles winning streak.

In doubles play, a team of Heneghan and Melissa Kobayakawa are 15-5 this season and have won an impressive ten contests in a row.
