Fullerton News & Notes

Cal State Fullerton returns to the court for the 2014 season following an 11-14 record in 2013, which marked the most victories for Fullerton since 2004. Following the season, Bill Reynolds retired after 24 years of service as the Titans' head coach.

In addition, Fullerton's four league victories last season represent CSF's highest total since the Big West began round-robin play in 2006.  Reynolds guided the Titans to the fifth seed in the Big West Tournament, the program's highest designation in the bracket since the beginning of round-robin play.

Fullerton returns eight student-athletes from last year's squad, including regular members of the lineup, Morgan McIntosh, Kalika Slevcove and Megan Sandford. Newcomers include freshmen Camille de Leon (8-4) and Alexis Valenzuela (7-2), who each experienced early success in the fall.

Fullerton lost three members of last year's lineup as eligibility expired for Tiffany Mai, Malorie de la Cruz and Monica Rodriguez. Mai received Big West second team honors following her senior season, while the doubles team of McIntosh and Slevcove also earned Big West second team accolades in doubles play.

San Diego State, currently ranked 46th in the ITA rankings, will open the season on Saturday hosting a pair of Big West opponents as UC Riverside takes on the Aztecs at 9 a.m., followed by the Titans at 4 p.m.

Dating back to 2005, Cal State Fullerton is winless in nine matches at San Diego State.
