FULLERTON, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton (3-1) split their Saturday doubleheader with a 6-2 win over Utah State (1-3) before falling 5-1 to Pacific (3-0) in the night cap.
In game one, the Titans would get the scoring started right away plating two runs on a Zoe Richard double in the first and one more in the second on a Utah State fielding error.
Fullerton starter, Sophie Frost cruised through the first four innings as only one runner even reached second.
However, the Aggies would break through with a run in the fifth loading the bases with a single, double, and a walk. That would force the Titans to go to the bullpen as Dani Martinez would take over in the circle.
The sophomore ace would do a great job limiting the damage as only one run would come in to score.
The Titans immediately got the run back in the bottom half with an RBI single from Deshea Hill and tack on two more in the sixth on another two-RBI double from Richard, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI.
Utah State would try to rally in the top of the seventh plating one run, but Martinez would ultimately shut it down as Fullerton came out with a 6-2 victory.

In game two, Pacific threatened immediately loading the bases on three consecutive walks. But Titan starter, Trish Parks, kept her composure and got out of the jam unscathed.
The pitchers would battle as neither team could get anything going for the first three innings before Pacific pushed a run across in the top of the fourth.
Janelle Rodriguez would answer immediately though skying a deep fly ball to left, clearing the fence and tying the game up at one run a piece.
The Tigers would get the offense going in the fifth as they strung together four hits to plate three runs and retake the lead. They would then add on another run in the fifth to make it 5-1. The four-run lead was more than enough for Myka Sutherlin (CG, 3H, R, 3BB, 7K), who was dealing against the Titan lineup.
Cal State Fullerton will close out opening weekend with LMU tomorrow at 2:30 p.m.
