SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton (15-8) swept their doubleheader Saturday with a 3-0 win over Northern Kentucky and an 8-1 win over host Santa Clara to close out their weekend at the Silicon Valley Classic II.
Sophie Frost got the start in game one against the Norse and threw a gem. Going the distance, the right-hander threw a complete game shutout allowing just five hits while striking out six.
Deshea Hill and Sam Kennedy led the offense with two hits each. Hill had an RBI while Kennedy had a run scored. Alexa Neil went 1-for-3 out of the leadoff spot with a run scored while Janelle Rodriguez had the only other Fullerton hit going 1-for-3 with an RBI.
The Titans got the scoring started in the bottom of the second after Kennedy doubled, moved up to third on a groundout, and came in to score on a wild pitch.
Fullerton would score again in the fourth as Daisy Munoz reached on a fielder's choice followed by Kennedy's second double of the game. Rodriguez would drive in the run with a bloop single into center field.
Just for extra insurance, the Titans would bring another run across in the fifth on Hill's RBI double into right-center bringing in Neil.
Fullerton would look to carry the momentum of back-to-back shutouts into their final game of the weekend against host Santa Clara.

Dani Martinez got the start in the circle for game two against host Santa Clara. She would throw six tremendous innings allowing just two hits while striking out seven. Katie Neary would enter the game and throw the seventh allowing an unearned run.
Julia Valenzuela led the offense against the Broncos going a perfect 3-for-3 with a double and a walk. Deshea Hill had another multi-hit performance going 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI. Irie Siofele drove in two runs with a 1-for-2 game while Evelyn Sablan launched her second home run of the season. Daisy Munoz, Kiana Parrish, and Kelsie Whitmore also all recorded hits in the victory.
The Titans and Broncos were locked in a pitchers' duel for the first three innings as neither team could get the offense going. Fullerton stranded five runners on base until they finally broke through in the fourth.
After a pair of singles and a walk loaded up the bases, Siofele would send one into center deep enough to bring in the first run of the ballgame. Hill would come up next and launch a double into right-center to bring in two more runs before Fullerton's fourth would come to an end.
Sablan would get the scoring started back up in the sixth with a leadoff home run to left. The Titans would go on to score three more as Siofele registered and RBI single while Hill and Rodriguez each recorded sac flies.
CSF would tack on their eighth run of the ballgame in the seventh after three straight walks loaded the bases and pinch hitter Lauren Amezcua recorded a sac fly of her own.
The Fullerton pitching staff was on a 21-inning scoreless streak, but had it snapped as Santa Clara was able to plate a run in the bottom half of the seventh.
The Titans will be back in action for a midweek game on Tuesday as they host Houston at Anderson Family Field. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
