DAVIS, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton (31-21, 9-8) softball team split a Saturday doubleheader at Big West foe UC Davis (18-27, 6-11) behind Christina Washington's ninth complete game and Sarah Moore's game-winning RBI single in game one, 3-1, while the Aggies' Kelly Zboralske launched the go-ahead three-run homer to capture the series opener, 4-1 at La Rue Field.

Cal State Fullerton will wrap up the series tomorrow with UC Davis in the series finale at 12 p.m. at La Rue Field in Davis, Calif.

GAME TWO: Cal State Fullerton 3, UC Davis 1

Cal State Fullerton's Sarah Moore struck for a two-out RBI single in the fifth inning to break a 1-1 tie while Christina Washington (16-6) tossed a complete game two-hitter to earn a split at UC Davis in game two of the twin bill, 3-1.

With the game deadlocked at four apiece heading into the fifth, Fullerton's decisive inning began with freshman Sammie Vandiver extending her hitting streak to a team-high eighth game, dumping a leadoff single to shallow left field. After a pair of harmless pop outs from Missy Taukeiaho and Courtney Rodriguez, Vandiver swiped second for her seventh stolen base of the season to land in scoring position. Moore provided the go-ahead run with an RBI single to put the Titans in front 2-1, a lead that would not be surrendered. Moore (1-for-2) collect one RBI and reached base on three occasions including a pair of walks.

Washington notched her team-high 16th victory of the season behind a sold seven innings of work, giving up one run on a season-low two hits.

Both offenses struggled from the start, but it was the Aggies who got on the board first via RBI triple from Lauryn Saunders in the bottom of the third frame.

The Titans answered back in the top half of the fourth as senior Eliza Crawford drew a one-out walk to begin the rally. CSF freshman Brooke Clemetson replaced Crawford as a pinch runner and scooted over to third on a wild pitch from UCD starter, Dana Cruse. Titan sophomore Lexi Gonzalez entered as a pinch hitter and provided an RBI single down the left field line just out of the reach of UCD left fielder Brianna Warner to deadlock the game up at 1-1.

Fullerton added an insurance run in the sixth inning as Vandiver (2-for-3) collected her second multi-hit game of the day by legging out a two-out infield single to score Kylie Padilla who doubled earlier.

The Aggies' Justine Vela (1-6) took the loss after two and 2/3 innings of relief, surrendering two runs on a pair of hits. Cruse was chased after turning in the opening three and 2/3 frames, allowing just one run, but was beginning to lose her command with five walks.

GAME ONE: UC Davis 4, Cal State Fullerton 1

UC Davis' Leah Munden (10-12) tossed a complete game six-hitter and Kelly Zboralske provided the go-ahead three-run homer to capture the series opener over Cal State Fullerton, 4-1.

Munden stifled the Fullerton offense, scattering seven hits over seven innings, limiting the Titans to just one run. The right-hander failed to record a strikeout, but managed to strand six Titans on the base paths.

The Titans also aided Munden by giving away several outs including batter's interference, a runner leaving early, and a pair of runners being thrown out including a play at the plate.

Fullerton broke the scoreless tie in the top of the third inning beginning with Sammie Vandiver's second base-hit of the game with a single to left field. CSF's Missy Taukeiaho followed with a sacrifice bunt to advance Vandiver to second. Courtney Rodriguez roped a double into the right-center gap to give the Titans an early 1-0 lead. Vandiver was the only Titan to log multiple hits with a 2-for-4 performance while adding one run scored.

UC Davis responded in the bottom of the third with singles from Christa Castello and Amy Nunez before third baseman Zboralske (2-for-3) launched the three-run round-tripper to put the Aggies in front for good at 3-1. UCD would tack on another run via fielding error in the fifth frame.

Cerissa Rivera (2-2) was given the nod to start in the circle for the Titans, tossing the full six innings in the loss, yielding four runs (three earned) on seven hits. The right-hander issued three walks and struck out four.
