Araujo to Coach at Central American and Caribbean Games

FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton assistant softball coach Jorge Araujo will join the Mexican National Team coaching staff when the squad competes at the 22nd Central American and Caribbean Games in Veracruz, Mexico from Nov. 24-30.

"This will be a great coaching experience for me at the international level," said Araujo. "I look forward to gaining as much knowledge and expertise as possible so that I can apply it back into the Titans softball program as we approach a promising season with our student-athletes."

Along with the Mexican National Team will be Columbia, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Guatemala and Venezuela in the six-nation field. Araujo will act as a defensive instructor and practice coordinator.

Earlier this summer, Araujo was a part of the Mexican National Team coaching staff at the Canadian Open Fast Pitch Invitational from July 15-21 in Surrey, B.C., notching a victory over the Bloomington Lady Hearts, 7-2. Prior to the tournament in Canada, Team Mexico participated in the General Tire World Cup of Softball IX on July 7-13 in Irvine, Calif., finishing fifth among the seven-team field with victories over the Philippines, 7-0, and Venezuela, 1-0.

Araujo enters his third season on the Fullerton softball staff where he will continue to be the recruiting coordinator and defensive specialist for the Titans. He will continue to assist with all other aspects of the program including offensive, pitching and catching duties.

Cal State Fullerton concluded the fall portion of its schedule highlighted by the annual alumni game this past Saturday. The Titans will open up the 2015 season Feb. 6-8, tri-hosting the So Cal Collegiate Challenge with UCLA and Long Beach State at Anderson Family Field in Fullerton, Calif.
