FULLERTON, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton softball team used Melissa Sechrest's walk-off grand slam to run-rule Canisius, 10-2, in the final game of an 18-game home stand at Anderson Family Field on Monday night.

In a game that appeared it was going to come down to the wire, two decisive round-trippers by Sechrest and Eliza Crawford buried the Golden Griffins in six innings.

Sophomore Sechrest jolted a 1-2 pitch over the left field wall for her third homer of the season, scoring Megan Estacio, Samantha Galarza and Missy Taukeiaho. The first baseman from Peoria, Ariz., clinched the third walk-off victory of the year for the Titans batting 1-for-3 with a career-high four RBI.

Freshman Christina Washington (5-4) picked up the win in relief for Fullerton, tossing 2 strong scoreless innings yielding zero hits while fanning two Canisius batters.

Trailing 2-1 in the fourth inning, the Titans were looking for a spark to overtake the contest. Sydney Colenzo led off the inning with a single into right field, later followed by senior Leesa Harris' RBI-single up the middle to score pinch runner Delynn Rippy, tying the game at 2 apiece.

With two more runners on in the fourth, lefty Crawford provided the big spark with a three-run homer to opposite field, capturing the lead for good. The senior infielder batted 1-for-3, while drawing a pair of walks and scoring one run.  

Monique Wesley was given the nod to start in the circle for the Titans, tossing 3 innings of four-hit ball while surrendering two runs. Wesley fanned four Golden Griffins to go along with two walks.

Sophomore Jasmine Antunez closed out the game for the final frame before Sechrest launched the round-tripper to send everyone home. The right-hander tossed a consecutive scoreless inning, holding the Golden Griffins hitless.

Amongst the 10 hits for the Titans offense, sophomore Galarza and senior Harris had a lot to do with it. Galarza batted a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs scored, setting a career-high in base hits. Harris continued her torrid week at the plate, batting 2-for-3 with one run scored. 

In conclusion of an 18-game home stand including the hosting of three consecutive tournaments, the Titans hit the road for a double-header against CSU-Bakersfield on Mar. 26 in Bakersfield, Calif. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. at Roadrunner Softball Complex. 

Game Notes: This was the third game in which the Titans have scored 10 or more runs, last occurring on Mar. 14 against UNLV, 12-4…Harris has punished opposing pitchers of late, batting 11-for-15 (.733) over the past five games posting five runs scored and seven RBI over that span…Chalking up another hit-by-pitch in an at-bat, Crawford leads not only the team, but the Big West in that category with nine on the year…This was the first walk-off victory since the Titans competed with Loyola (IL) in a 3-2 triumph back on Mar. 4….Fullerton produced four stolen bases via Taukeiaho, Galarza, Crawford and Rippy, tying for the most in any individual game of 2014.
