LONG BEACH, Calif . - The Cal State Fullerton Titans women's soccer team dropped a 2-1 game at Long Beach on Thursday evening at George Allen Field. The Titans fall to 5-4-3 for the season and 2-1 in Big West play.
Despite heavily attacking Long Beach to start the game it was the home side who took a 1-0 lead early in the game. Sophie Jones had a open header in the front of the net to put the Beach ahead.
The Titans had an opportunity to equalize but Kaitlin Taylor's header was saved by the Long Beach keeper.
Long Beach had a penalty called in their favor in the 34th minute after Megan Day was judged to have fouled a player inside the box. Lena Silano buried the penalty for Long Beach to put them ahead 2-0.
The Titans came out attacking to start the second half but wouldn't be rewarded until halfway in the 73rd minute. Karla Rodriguez won a ball in the midfield and found Amanda Torres making a run down the right side. She crossed it to Emelia Owen who flick headed the ball over the keeper to give the Titans one goal back.

With the Titans pushing for the equalizer, Mia Ranson came up huge to prevent Long Beach from getting a third goal. Ranson finished with four saves for the game.
The Titans were outshot 13-11 for the game but had 11 corners to Long Beach's three corner kicks.
The Titans head to UC Irvine on Sunday for their next game. Kick-off against the Anteaters is set for 6:00 p.m.
