FULLERTON, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton women's soccer team will make its seventh appearance in the NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Championship Friday, Nov. 13 at 1 p.m. (PST) when the Titans take on USC in Los Angeles, Calif. The field of 64 teams was announced Monday afternoon by the Division I Women's Soccer Committee.
The Titans (16-3-1, 6-2-0 BWC) secured a spot in the NCAA Tournament after winning their third-straight Big West Conference Tournament championship on Sunday. Cal State Fullerton shutout Long Beach State, 1-0, for the crown and the automatic bid.
CSF will play USC, which is 14-5-1 overall and 9-2-0 in the Pac-12. The Trojans are second in the Pac-12 standings behind Stanford which went undefeated in league play.
The Titans and Trojans have met before on the national stage as Cal State Fullerton defeated USC, 3-1, in the second round of the 2005 NCAA Tournament. Fullerton hosted the tournament at Titan Stadium and advanced to the third round where CSF fell, 2-1, to then-No. 7 Virginia.
Overall, Cal State Fullerton is 3-6-3 against USC in program history. The Titans are 1-1-2 when playing the Trojans in Los Angeles.
Fullerton is making its third straight NCAA Tournament appearance after having lost to Stanford in the first round in both 2013 and 2014.
