LONG BEACH, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton's Big West Conference win streak was put to an end on Sunday night as Ashley Gonzales' golden goal in the 93rd minute spurred Long Beach State to a 1-0 overtime shutout of the Titans on Sunday night at George Allen Field.

A Fullerton (8-2-1, 0-1-0 Big West) foul led to a Long Beach State (6-3-3, 1-0-0 Big West) free kick that was taken by Val Margerum and flicked into the box by Melanie Fox.  Gonzales, the 49ers leading scorer with five goals, needed just one touch to put it past Titan sophomore goalkeeper Morgan Bertsch.

The shutout loss ends a series of streaks for Fullerton. The loss to LBSU was the Titans first loss in a Big West Conference game since a 1-0 defeat at UC Irvine on Nov. 3, 2013, a streak of eight games.  When including Big West Tournament matches, the Titans were 8-0-4 against league opponents dating back to the loss against the Anteaters.

In addition, Fullerton's last match without a goal scored dates back to a 0-0 double overtime tie vs. Long Beach State at Titan Stadium on Oct. 9, 2014. Since then, the Titans had scored at least one goal in 18 consecutive matches, managing a 15-2-1 record during that stretch before Sunday's shutout.

Fullerton had also not conceded the game's first goal since a 1-1 tie at UC Davis on Oct. 5, 2014 - that's a stretch of 19 games, and the Titans produced a record of 15-2-2 over that stretch.

On Sunday, the 49ers held a 16-8 advantage in shots as well as an 8-4 lead in shots on goal.

Titan goalkeeper Jennifer Stuart made three saves, before leaving the match in the 65th minute with an injury. She was replaced in goal by Bertsch.

Connie Caliz and Rebecca Wilson led Fullerton with two shots apiece.

In goal for LBSU, Ashton McKeown made four saves.

The Titans are now 1-2-1 in overtime matches in 2015.

The Titans return to action at 7 p.m., Friday at Titan Stadium hosting UC Davis. Fullerton fans are urged to help the Titans break the attendance record.
