Big West Preseason Poll (PDF)

FULLERTON, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton women's soccer team, which has won the Big West regular season or tournament championship for three consecutive years, was selected to finish third in the Big West Preseason Poll.

Cal Poly, the 2013 regular season champion, received three first-place votes in ballots among the Big West's nine head coaches for a total of 72 points. Long Beach State received one first-place vote of its own with 70 points while Cal State Fullerton, the 2014 regular season and Big West Tournament champion, collected 68 points for third place with three first-place nods.

UC Irvine raked in a first-place vote and finished out the top four teams with 50 points.

CSUN (37 points), UC Santa Barbara (28), Hawai'i (28), UC Riverside (27) and UC Davis (25) rounded out the preseason poll.

Fullerton brings back 14 letterwinners – including seven starters – from last year's championship roster including a trio of National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-West Region selections – senior defender Morgan Batcheller, senior midfielder Christina Burkenroad and redshirt senior forward Rebecca Wilson.

Batcheller, Burkenroad and Wilson were picked for the 2015 Big West Preseason All-Conference Team.

The Titans also bring back 24 of their 30 goals scored from last season led by Wilson (10), Burkenroad (6) and Connie Caliz (4).

The Titans return both of their goalkeepers from last year; redshirt junior Jennifer Stuart (9-5-2/0.96 GAA/58 Saves) and Morgan Bertsch (1-3-2/1.20 GAA/17 Saves).

The Titans welcome 11 newcomers and one returning redshirt.

Cal State Fullerton (10-8-4) completed its 2014 season with a 5-2 loss at then third-ranked Stanford in the first round of the 33rd NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Championship on Nov. 14.
The Titans concluded Big West Conference play undefeated (6-0-2) to win the 2014 Big West regular season championship and earn the league's No. 1 seed at the Big West Tournament. For Fullerton, it was the program's second regular season title in three years (2012, 2014). At the Big West Tournament, held in San Luis Obispo, Calif., the Titans defeated CSUN, 1-0, in the semifinals and edged Long Beach State, 2-1, in the finals to claim back-to-back Big West Tournament titles and NCAA Tournament berths.

The Titans produced their fourth-straight winning season and became the second Titan team to remain undefeated in league action since 1996 (6-0-1).

Head coach Demian Brown was named Big West Coach of the Year for the third time in his career while Wilson was voted the league's Offensive Player of the Year.

The Titans begin the regular season hosting the Fullerton Tournament Presented by Embassy Suites-Brea N. Orange County on Friday, Aug. 21 and Sunday, Aug. 23.
