Women's Golf Wraps Up Fall Slate with Fourth Place Finish

LAKEWOOD, Wash. – Cal State Fullerton women's golf finished the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational Tuesday afternoon in fourth place with a score of 20-over par 884. 

Freshman Nodoka Honda led the Titans individually after shooting a 1-over par 217 to leave her tied for fifth. Honda shot a 70 in round one before shooting a 74 and 73. Honda's fifth place finish is the best of her young collegiate career and she has now finished in the top-20 in three of four tournaments with two top-10 finishes. 

Elsa Lundquist finished one stroke behind Honda with a score of 2-over par 218, placing her tied for seventh. Lundquist shot a 73 and a 70 on day one before recording a 75 in the third and final round Tuesday. The senior had an impressive fall as she finished in the top-20 in all four tournaments with three of them being top-10 finishes while placing tied for second last week at the Rose City Collegiate.

Brittany Shin placed tied for 26th with a score of 8-over par 224. Shin recorded a 74 and 77 in rounds one and two before shooting a 73 to finish off the tournament. The freshman had a great start to her collegiate career, finishing in the top-20 in three of four tournaments along with a tied for fifth place finish and a tied for second place finish.  

Lisa Djerf wrapped up the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational tied for 38th place after shooting a 11-over par 227. Djerf shot a 75 in rounds one and two prior to finishing the tournament with a score of 77 in round three. Djerf fared well in the Titans fall slate as well, recording three top-15 finishes and two top-10 finishes. 

Senior Texie Petchel finished one stroke behind Djerf at 12-over par 228 to leave her tied for 47th. Petchel shot a 76 and 77 in the first two rounds before shooting a 75 in round three. 

As a team the Titans had a historic start to the season, earning three consecutive tournament victories to begin the season. Fullerton's three tournament victories is the most in a single season in the history of the program with six tournaments left to play in the spring. The team finished in the top-five in all four tournaments in the fall. 

The Titans take a few months off before returning on Jan. 26 for a match play event against Cal Baptist. Fullerton's first tournament of the spring schedule is Feb. 10-11 as they go to Riverside for the Battle at the Rock tournament.
