Titans Head to Oregon For Rose City Collegiate

THIS WEEK: The Cal State Fullerton women's golf team heads to Oregon for their second competition of the 2014-15 season as they take part in the Rose City Collegiate hosted by Portland State University.

THE COURSE: This week's event will be held at the 6,080 yard par-72 Langdon Farms Golf Club in Aurora, Ore. Play begins Monday with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Teams will play 36 holes on the first day and then conclude with the final 18 holes on Tuesday with an 8 a.m. start off holes 1 and 10.

THE FIELD: In addition to the Titans and host Vikings, the tournament features 11 other teams including Big West Conference counterpart UC Irvine. The rest of the field includes Boise State, Eastern Washington, Idaho, Idaho State, Montana, Northern Colorado, Oregon State, San Francisco, Seattle, Louisiana-Monroe, Weber State along with nine players competing as individuals.

IN THE POLLS: This week's field features four programs that finished amongst the top-100 in the final 2013-14 GolfStat NCAA Head-to-Head rankings including the Titans (No. 90), Oregon State (No. 67), UC Irvine (No. 82) and San Francisco (No. 95).

TITANS DEBUT: Freshman Brittany Farrell shot a 19-over 235 at the Minnesota Invitational, finishing in a tie for 47th place. She tallied five birdies in 54 holes and was in the top 25 of the individual standings through 36 holes.

LAST TIME OUT: Sophomore Martina Edberg recorded the third top-5 finish of her career as Cal State Fullerton finished in 13th place at the Minnesota Invitational. Edberg finished the tournament with a 4-over 220, placing her in a three-way tie for third place.

As for the Titans, the team shot a collective 26-over 314 on Tuesday and finished the tournament with a 67-over 931. They were 11 strokes away from a top-10 spot where Illinois finished in 10th place with a 56-over 920. East Carolina won the event after posting a collective 15-over 879, 21 strokes better than second-place Colorado.

Senior Tisha Alyn Abrea finished in a tie for 50th place after she finished the 54-hole event with a 21-over 237. Fellow senior Makayla Mier finished in a tie for 62nd while Nadine Rivera rounded out the Titans scoring with an 86 in the third round, finishing the tournament with a score of 252.

FREQUENT FLYERS: Cal State Fullerton will have tournaments in four different states during the fall portion of the 2014-15. The Titans will close out the fall portion of the season with trips to Price's New Mexico State Invitational on Oct. 6 and the Rainbow Wahine Invitational in Wahiawa, Hawaii on Oct. 21.

--Senior Tisha Alyn Abrea has played in every tournament during her career at Cal State Fullerton. She has appeared in 28 tournaments and played in 83 rounds as a member of the Titans following her finish at the Minnesota Invitational.

--Martina Edberg recorded her 11th career round of par or better in the second round of the Minnesota Invitational. She is the school's all-time leader in that category since the program was reinstated for the 2009-10 season.

--Last year, the Titans finished fourth at the Rose City Collegiate after shooting a 609 through two rounds. The third round was cancelled due to inclement weather. In 2012, the Titans won the tournament after shooting a cumulative 912, which is the eighth lowest 54-hole team score in the program's record book.
