SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton women's basketball dropped its Big West Conference opener on the road to UC Santa Barbara Thursday night by a final score of 66-59. The Titans fall to 5-5 and 0-1 in conference play.
The Titans trailed by as many as 16 points midway through the fourth quarter before going on a 7-0 run to cut the Gauchos lead to single digits. Gabi Vidmar hit two three-point baskets in the final 1:15 to make it a four-point game with 22 seconds left. However, the Gauchos were able to hit free-throws to hold off the Titans in the final seconds.

Vidmar had another strong outing for the Titans, scoring 14 points on 5-of-11 shooting and 4-of-9 from behind the arc. Vidmar scored 9 of her 14 points in the second half. Una Jovanovic added 10 points and five assists.

Fullerton trailed 16-11 at the end of the first quarter with help from Fujika Nimmo who scored eight of the 11 points in the quarter. Nimmo was also a key factor late in the game, scoring 11 points on 4-of-4 shooting from the field in the fourth. The senior scored a team-high 23 points in the loss.

The Titans look to bounce back Saturday as they head to the valley to take on CSUN on New Year's Eve. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
