FULLERTON, Calif. – The Titans improved to 7-5 in non-conference play after downing Air Force 79-70 on Saturday afternoon in Titan Gym.
Fullerton took the lead late in the second quarter, and never looked back. Once again, the Titan effort was led by Raina Perez who scored 31 points to go with 11 rebounds. This was her eighth game this season scoring 20 or more points.
Reigning Big West player of the week Taylor Turney dropped in 17 points and dished out six assists. Sophomore Madison Freemon had one of her best games in a Titan uniform with 10 points and seven rebounds. Carolyn Gill had nine points and 13 rebounds. Amiee Book also contributed eight points in the Fullerton win.
Said head coach Jeff Harada: "I'm really happy for our team to get a win today against a very tough Air Force squad. They forced us into a lot of mistakes throughout the game, but it was nice to see us respond and make plays when we needed to."
"It's always tough during finals week as practices aren't always the sharpest, but again, I'm just happy that we got through the week with a win heading into the Christmas break."
Fullerton shot a hot 58.6% from the field, and dominated the boards. The Titans hauled down 41 rebounds to just 24 for the Falcons. Fullerton also shot 9-10 from the charity stripe.
Cal State Fullerton will next play on Sunday, December 29 at 2:00 p.m. when they host Seattle University (6-6) in Titan Gym.
