FULLERTON, Calif. – After easily handling Long Beach State on Monday night, the Utah State Aggies can be forgiven if they thought Cal State Fullerton would be a similar Big West pushover. That was most certainly not the case, as four Titans scored in double figures for an 83-62 home opening rout of the Aggies in Titan Gym.
Raina Perez, the current Big West Player of the Week, once again led the way with 23 points, on 9-16 shooting. This was her fourth consecutive 20 point game. Taylor Turney notched 16 points, and Amiee Book and Megan Nieto added 12 and 10 points respectively in the Titans victory.
Joy Krupa was again a key presence on the boards, as she hauled down 10 rebounds to lead the Fullerton squad. The Titans outrebounded the Aggies 40-34. Fullerton also shot a red-hot 51.7% from the floor, including 43.8% from the 3-point arc.
Said head coach Jeff Harada: "I'm really proud of our effort against a good team tonight. I know we were excited to play, with it being our home opener, and I thought we stuck to the game plan and set the tone early. We didn't hang our heads when they made their runs, and I was most pleased that we were able to win all four quarters, share the basketball, and shoot a high percentage all-around."
The Titans (3-2, 0-0 BWC) will head to Phoenix for a Sunday matchup with Grand Canyon University at 1:00 p.m. This will be the first time that the Titans and Antelopes women's basketball programs have faced each other.
PARKING
CSUF requires a parking permit for all weekday games. Beginning July 1st, parking on campus will be $10 for an All-Day permit Monday through Thursday 7:00 am to 10:00 pm (Friday until 5pm). After 5pm on Friday, permits are not required, as well as on the weekend. Park and Pay stalls Monday through Thursday 7:00 am to 10:00 pm (Friday until 5pm) are $4 for 1-hour, $8 for 2-hours. Permits can be purchased in parking lots at the permit machines and accept only major credit cards.
