LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Titans Win!  In what will surely go down as one of the signature victories thus far in the Jeff Harada-era, Cal State Fullerton defeated UNLV 64-58 on Saturday night in the Thomas & Mack Center.  The Titans shot 25-54 (46.3%) from the floor in the win.

The pesky Fullerton squad simply would not let UNLV put them away, staying close throughout the game. The Titans eventually took the lead late in the third quarter and held on for a nail-biting win.  In an oddity, the Titans collected the victory without knocking down even one 3-pointer, as they ended the night 0-6.

The Titans were led by Raina Perez, who scored 24 points on 11-for-19 (57.9%) shooting from the floor. Taylor Turney was right behind her with 20 points.  10 of her points came from the free-throw line.  Janette Mensah had her first career start at center and contributed seven rebounds.  Megan Nieto came off of the bench to play solid defense and add seven points of her own.  Amiee Book, who scored 27 points at Southern Utah on Thursday, was held to only four points in the contest.  This was mainly due to early foul trouble.

UNLV was a longtime nemesis for Cal State Fullerton.  Prior to this game they held a 34-8 all-time win record versus the Titan women's basketball program.

Fullerton (1-1, 0-0 BWC) will return to southern California for road games on Friday, November 15 at Loyola Marymount at 7:00 p.m., and at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 17 at San Diego State.

The Titans will open their home season on Wednesday, November 20, when they host Utah State in a 7:00 p.m. contest in Titan Gym.
