Titans Drop Fifth-Straight in 72-49 Loss to Northern Illinois

DALLAS, Tex. – Amanda Tivenius recorded her first double-digit game of the year while Sami Logan had a season-high 10 rebounds in the Titans fifth-straight loss, falling 72-49 to Northern Illinois in the SMU Thanksgiving Classic at Moody Coliseum on Saturday afternoon.

Logan was one point away from a double-double while Michelle Berry also recorded 10 rebounds.

Fullerton (2-5) shot season-lows in all shooting categories including 27% overall, 18.2% from behind the arc and 45.8% from the line yet recorded a season-high 44 rebounds and tied a season-low of 12 turnovers en route to the loss.

The Titans got off to a hot start in the first quarter with back-to-back three-pointers from Sami Logan and Jade Vega to start the game.

Yet the lead quickly faded when NIU bounced back to take the 20-14 lead at the end of the first period.

The Titans started the second period by going on a 5-3 run, closing the gap on the Huskies. Yet after a timeout, NIU scored ten points to grab their largest lead at 14.

NIU's Ally Lehman hit another three to total her 15th point of the game to put the Huskies ahead 36-20 at halftime.

The Titans had a season-low six points in the second quarter, the least amount of points scored in a single period so far this season.

Gabriel led the Titans offensively in the first half totaling seven points and two boards, while Logan had six points and three rebounds of her own.
Yet the third quarter brought even more troubles for the Titans as the Huskies outscored the Titans 24-14. The Huskies had three players in double-digit points by the third period.

At the end of the third period the Titans trailed the Huskies 60-34.

In the fourth quarter the Huskies had their fourth player get into double-digits, while Michelle Berry recorded her second game of the season with double-digit rebounds.

Although Cal State Fullerton outscored the Huskies in the final quarter 15-12, it wasn't enough as the Titans dropped their fifth-straight 72-49.

The Titans return to the floor on Dec. 3 as they head to Montana State to take on Coach Park's alma mater.

NOTES: The five game losing streak is the longest the Titans have had since last season when they lost five straight from Jan. 31 to Feb. 14…  Amanda Tivenius had a season-high 14 points in today's loss… Logan had a season-high 10 three-point attempts…
