FULLERTON'S RECENT RESULTS
Dec. 21 vs Albany
The Titans could not overcome a slow first half as they lost to Albany, 71-49, at Titan Gym behind a game-high 18 points from Zakiya Saunders and 14 points from Imani Tate.
Despite the hot-shooting numbers, the defenses stood out in the early going as the two teams combined for five turnovers in the first 10 minutes of the game.  The defensive efforts of both teams kept the score close until Albany sunk five unanswered field goals, starting a 17-3 run that left the Titans trailing 28-13 with 7:08 left in the opening frame.  The Titans and Great Danes traded baskets for the remainder of the half as Albany took a 43-28 lead into the break.
Albany did not take its foot off the accelerator in the second half, shooting 47.6 percent (10-of-21) from the field, slowly increasing its lead as Fullerton could only manage to shoot 27.6 percent (8-of-29) from the field the rest of the way.
The Titans were led by Chante Miles who poured in 12 points on 5-of-11 shooting from the field, while adding team-high seven assists in her 40 minutes on the floor. Miles has now scored in double figures for nine-straight games, tying a career-high mark she set last season from Nov. 8 to Dec. 14.

BREAKING DOWN UMKC
Coming off an 11 win season, Missouri, Kansas City returns senior Lexi Haridek and Sophomore Calli White.
Haridek entered the year as UMKC's 10th-best, three-point shooter in school history, and White comes into 2014-15 after a record-breaking 2013-14 where she set freshman school records for three-point field goals (73), three-point field goal attempts (288), and the most games started as a freshman (30).
The Kangaroos will enter Titan Gym on a seven-game losing streak as their last win came on Nov. 28, in a 62-48 victory against Mississippi Valley State at home.
White leads UMKC in points (11.3), field goals made (3.4), three-pointers made (1.6) and assists per game (2.6) this season.

BREAKING DOWN SEATTLE
Coming off back-to-back appearances in the league tournament title game, Seattle enters its third year in the Western Athletic Conference and have started the 2014-15 season with a 2-9 overall record.
On the heels of the holiday break, the Redhawks will take on a full-slate of games this week as their non-conference schedule rounds out on Sunday when they host the Titans.  Seattle will try to turn around the trend of recent results as they have lost four straight games heading into conference action next week.
The Redhawks feature three student-athletes that average double figure points per game as Wilma Afunugo (11.5), Taelor Ross (11.0), and Alexis Montgomery (10.1) lead the squad.  Afunugo also leads Seattle on the boards this season, pulling down an average of 6.7 per game.

CONFERENCE CALL
Cal State Fullerton is 87-71 all-time against the Western Athletic Conference.

MILES CHASING HISTORY
With 13 points on Dec. 21 against Albany, Chante Miles pushed her career total to 1,067 points.  Already becoming the 23rd member of the 1,000-point club for Titan women's basketball on Dec. 6 against South Dakota, the senior guard is now 11 points away from passing former Titan Amber Pruitt on the all-time Fullerton scoring list.  Pruitt currently sits in 20th place with 1,078 points.

CAREER NIGHTS
Chante Miles: The guard from Compton, Calif. could not be stopped Nov. 24 at Weber State as she dropped a career-high 35 points on 9-of-15 shooting from the field and shot 6-of-9 from behind the arc.  Not only did Miles light up the scoreboard, but she also got her teammates involved in the game, tying her previous season-high in assists with six.
Amanda Tivenius: The freshman from Lindingo, Sweden scored a career-high 16 points on a very efficient 6-of-8 shooting from the floor against San Diego on Nov 18.
Daeja Smith: Freshman Daeja Smith produced the first double-double of her career Nov. 29 against New Mexico State, dropping 10 points and a career-high 11 rebounds, while adding a career-high three blocks.

GREAT EXPECTATIONS
The Fullerton coaching staff will be looking to Kathleen Iwuoha and Chante Miles to lead this team all season.  The seniors have not dissapointed so far as Miles leads the team in minutes (37.6), points (18.9), and three-point shots made per game (2.82).  Iwuoha has been dominant on the boards this season, getting into double figures in rebounds for four of the Titans first nine games.  She has pulled down a team-high 6.6 rebounds, and a team-high 2.73 offensive rebounds per game while only trailing Miles in points per game (11.7) this season.

HIT ME WITH YOUR BEST SHOT
Cal State Fullerton's 2014-15 slate will feature eight teams that were either in the NCAA tournament or WNIT postseason tournaments a year ago, with five of those matchups appearing in the non-conference schedule.
"I'm very excited about our non-conference schedule," said Park.  "I think it is a schedule filled with great tests that ultimately will prepare us for the Big West Conference.  Villanova and Albany are two great teams that we get the opportunity to play here at home.  Both are extremely well-coached. We played Albany last year at their place and they are extremely talented. We will have to be at our best early to compete with those teams. Certainly tough road trips in-state to Fresno State and San Diego, but it's important to play those teams. They are what we are aspiring to be eventually."

GLOBE TROTTING
Fullerton's global reach became a little longer this season with two newcomers from outside of the U.S.  Freshman Amanda Tivenius hailing from Lindingo, Sweden, and Dhanyel Johnson from Spanish Town, Jamaica.

BUFFALO WILD WINGS STUDENT ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Nov. 24 - Nov. 30
Chante Miles - 25.3 points per game...3.3 assists per game...38.0 mintues per game
Dec. 1 - Dec. 7
Chante Miles - 22 points per game...became 23rd member of 1,000-point club...extended her streak of scoring in double figures to six-straight games.

EXPERIENCE LEADS THE WAY
Fullerton has experimented with three different starting lineups this season, and have seen different results with each combination.  The past six games the Titans have sent out an experienced group consisting of primarily returners, with only one freshman (Daeja Smith) in the starting lineup.  The results have been encouraging as the starting lineup of Chante Miles, Samantha Logan, Tailer Butler, Kathleen Iwuoha and Smith has posted a 3-3 record.

BUTLER PAYING DIVIDENDS
Senior Tailer Butler has been steadily gaining minutes on the floor in each game the Titans have played this season.  She has affirmed head coach Daron Park's confidence in her since being placed in the starting lineup six games ago against New Mexico State.  Through 11 games this season, Butler is averaging 7.1 points and 4.9 rebounds per game while playing an average of 25.2 minutes per contest.

KING'S CONTRIBUTIONS
Against Fresno State on Dec. 14, Hailey King came off the Titan bench to score in double figures for the second-straight game and led the team in scoring for the first time this season.  In her season-high 28 minutes on the floor, she pulled down four rebounds to add to her team-high point total.

NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK
The Titans welcome five new faces to the squad for the 2014-15 season. Here is more on the transfers and true freshmen ready to make an impact this season:

TITANS SIXTH IN BIG WEST POLL
The Big West Preseason Media Poll was released on Oct. 22 with the Titans picked to finish sixth during the 2014-15 season.  After sweeping both the regular season and conference tournament titles last season, CSUN is the favorite to take home the crown once again this season.  Hawai'i checked in behind the Matadors, earning one first place vote.  Cal Poly was voted to finish third after back-to-back trips to the Big West tournament finals and UC Davis finishes the top half of the poll at fourth.  Cal State Fullerton, UC Irvine, UC Riverside and UC Santa Barbara round out the rest of the poll.
