Johnson Signs National Letter of Intent

FULLERTON, Calif. - Dhanyel Johnson, a former center at Clarendon College, has signed a national letter of intent to Cal State Fullerton, it was announced by women's basketball head coach Daron Park Thursday.

Johnson, a native of Jamaica, will be eligible to play at the start of the 2014-15 season and will receive her Associate's Degree from Clarendon College before attending Fullerton.

"Dhanyel is a tremendous young lady, who shares our vision and belief in Cal State Fullerton women's basketball. She is an exceptional athlete with a high motor and nonstop desire to succeed," said Park.

With the Bulldogs, Johnson appeared in 28 games averaging 4.0 points per game, while pulling down a team high 7.8 rebounds per contest. The 6'2 center poured in a career high 15 points on 6-of-12 shooting in a 100-44 victory over Southwest Texas Junior College and had a whopping 10 blocks versus Southwestern Junior College on Jan. 4, 2014.

During her one season at Clarendon, Johnson recorded 10 games with at least nine rebounds and will give the Titans a big presence in the paint.

"She was a net baller in Jamaica and has great hands, exceptional leaping ability and will provide us a much needed inside presence defensively. She is relatively new to basketball yet I see tremendous growth and development just in the past year. My assistants and I are so excited she has chosen to continue her development at Cal State Fullerton."
