Titan Trio Earns All-Big West Honors

IRVINE, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton senior Alex Thomas was named to the All-Big West Conference Second Team, highlighting a group of three Titans recieving to all-league honors released by the conference Monday morning.

Junior guard Chante Miles also earned an honorable mention nod, while freshman Samantha Logan was named to the All-Big West Freshman team. For the second straight season, a Titan has been named to the Big West's Freshman Team.

Thomas becomes the first Titan to be named to the conference second team since Toni Thomas was honored during the 2008-09 season. The Mission Viejo, Calif., native finished the regular season averaging 15.2 points per game and second in scoring in conference games (20.6 ppg). The senior guard reached the 1,000 point career mark against Hawai'i last Saturday and has recorded 20 double-digit scoring games this season.

Miles, a junior from Compton, Calif., averaged 13.9 points per game this season, while leading the team in assists (114) and steals (41). The junior guard scored a career-high 26 points versus Cal Poly on Feb. 20 and dished out a career-high nine assists against UC Irvine on March 6.

Logan, in her first season with Fullerton, earned freshman team honors after averaging 7.9 points per game and 6.4 rebounds per contest. The Corona, Calif., native led the Titans with 52 three-pointers and knocked down a career-high seven three-pointers against UC Irvine on March 6. Logan recorded two double-doubles and made 21 starts in her rookie campaign.

Ariana Elegado and Molly Schlemer from Cal Poly, Sydnee Fipps from UC Davis, Camille Buckley from UC Irvine, Ashlee Guay from Cal State Northridge, and Brittany Crain of UC Riverside were named to the Big West All-Conference First-Team.

Guay was also named the Big West Player of the Year, while CSUN Head Coach Jason Flowers earned Coach of the Year honors.

The Big West specialty awards were divided among three clubs: Ashleigh Karaitiana from Hawai'i won Sixth Woman of the Year, Camille Mahlknecht was named Defensive Player, and Taryn Garza from Cal Poly was Best Hustle Player.  

The Titans now look forward to its Big West tournament first round matchup on Tuesday night versus Long Beach State at the Pyramid in Long Beach, Calif at 8:30 p.m.
