Tip-Off
Cal State Fullerton looks to snap its five-game losing streak at Titan Gym against a pair of Western Athletic Conference opponents over the weekend. The Titans take on Seattle Saturday, Dec. 21 at 6 p.m., following the men's game. Fullerton will then face New Mexico State on Monday (Dec. 23) at 7 p.m.

Breaking Down the Redhawks
The Redhawks are under head coach Joan Bonvicini. Bonvicini, currently in her fifth season at Seattle recently eclipsed her 670th career win as a head coach.
Seattle enters the 2013-14 season looking to build off a 2012-13 campaign that saw the Redhawks finish with a 20-11 record (15-3 WAC Conference). The Redhawks are averaging 71.4 points per game this season while they surrender an average of 73.4 points per game.
Seattle is led by senior forward Kacie Sowell, who is averaging a team-high 14.9 points and 9.7 rebounds per game. Senior guard Sylvia Shephard and senior forward Ashley Ward are both averaging double figures, 12.2 and 12.0 respectively. Sophomore center Taelor Ross adds 11.2 ppg and 5.2 rpg. The Redhawks are shooting 43 percent from the field this season and 32 percent from outside the arc.

Series Note: Saturday marks the 19th meeting all-time meeting between the two schools... Scouting the Aggies
New Mexico State enters the 2013-14 season looking to build off a 2012-13 campaign that saw the Aggies finish with a 15-16 record (7-11 WAC). New Mexico is off to a 3-7 start and has dropped its last four01 contests. The Rockets were picked to finish third in the Western Athletic Conference in 2013-14.
The Aggies are under the direction of third-year head coach Mark Trakh. New Mexico State is led by fresman guard Vanessa Garner, who is averaging 12.7 points per game. Sophomore guard Sasha Weber, a preseason All-WAC Conference player, has contributed 11.1 points per game and 4.7 rebounds per game.
Freshman guard Moriah Mack will be another strong option for the Aggies. The San Antonio, Texas native has averaged 9.3 points per game and 5.4 rebounds. September Offutt will be a force for the Aggies inside as she records 7.3 rebounds per game. The Aggies are averaging 73 points this season, while shooting 41 percent from the field.
Conference Call
The Titans are 85-71 (.519) all-time against Western Athletic Conference foes. The last time the Titans faced a team from the WAC, Fullerton defeated San Jose State, 60-59, on Dec. 22, 2012 at Titan Gym.

Last Time Out for the Titans
Freshman forward Kelsey Moos poured in 19 points on 8-of-10 shooting and grabbed seven rebounds helping the Arizona State Sun Devils defeat Cal State Fullerton 81-55 Saturday night at Titan Gym.
Chante Miles recorded her ninth double-digit scoring performance of the season, as she scored 16 points, while dishing out four assists. The Compton, Calif., native did most of her scoring from the free throw line as she connected on 10-of-11 attempts from the charity stripe. Fullerton (1-8) also got a great performance from junior forward Kathleen Iwuoha as she added a career high 15 points and eight rebounds on the night.
Arizona State (9-1) was led by Moos, who scored 15 of her 19 points in the second half, while also grabbing seven rebounds. Freshman forward Sophie Brunner added 13 points and redshirt sophomore Katie Hempen scored 11 points in the win. The Sun Devils jumped out to an early 5-0 lead, but Hailey King and Chante Miles each added a basket to cut the Arizona State lead down to one. After pulling within one, Arizona State extended its lead back up to seven, 15-8, with 12:03 remaining after Hempen knocked down a pair of three-pointers.
The Sun Devils continued to have their way with the Titans in the first half and stretched their lead to as many as 13, but a 10-2 Fullerton run cut the Sun Devil lead down to five with 3:26 left in the half. Arizona State closed the half on a 6-0 run and headed into intermission leading 33-22. The Titans and Sun Devils both shot 41 percent in the first half, but Arizona State connected on (6-for-10) three-pointers compared to Fullerton's two (2-for-11).
In the second half the Titans and Sun Devils traded baskets for the opening portion, but the Devils quickly gained a sizable lead after shooting 59 percent from the field. Arizona State led by as many as 28 in the second half and only allowed the Titans to cut their lead down to 10.
After shooting a combined five free throws in the first half between the two teams, the majority of the second half points came from the free throw line as both teams were in the double bonus for over 12 minutes. The Titans shot 24 second half free throws (19-for-24) while the Sun Devils attempted 14, converting on 11 of them.
The Titans finished the night shooting 34 percent from the field and 11 percent (2-of-19) from three-point range. Arizona State had the hot-hand shooting 50 percent from the floor and an impressive 58 percent (11-of-19) from behind the arc.

Through nine games here's a look at where the Titans stack up early on. Fullerton ranks third in the Big West Conference in scoring defense (68.0 ppg), third in defensive rebounding (38.4 rpg), third in defensive rebounding percentage (.662), and fifth in three-pointers made per game (5.67).

Making only her fourth start of the season junior Kathleen Iwuoha made her presence felt as she poured in 15 points, tying a career high, while also grabbing eight rebounds. Iwuoha previous high of 15 came against Hawai'i last season in the Big West tournament.
Thomas Connecting From Behind the Arc
Senior guard Alex Thomas knocked down three three-pointers against Iowa State giving her a new career high for three-pointers in a game. The Mission Viejo, Calif., native previously connected on two three-pointers ten different times in her career.
A Streak Meant For Snapping
The Titans come into this one looking for their first home win of the season, after beginning the year 0-4 at home. Fullerton has lost five straight home contests going back to last season.
Career Milestones Approaching
Senior Alex Thomas needs one steal to reach 100 career steals. Hailey King needs fivepoints for 100 career points and senior Brianna Barfield needs seven points for 200 total points in her career. Junior Tailer Butler needs 15 points to record 300 points in her career. The Los Angeles, Calif., native made her first start of the season versus Arizona State last weekend.
Giving Back to the Community
The Titans took time out of their day on Monday to do some holiday shopping and wrapping for a family in need during the holiday season. Through the Healthy Start program, the team was able to provide presents for the family.
The Second Half, Times Two
Fullerton has scored 55.1 percent (278/504) of its total points this season in the second half. If one were to replace Fullerton's first half scoring with its second half scoring this season, the Titans would be averaging 62.0 points per game compared to its current 56.0 points per game clip. Fullerton is knocking more shots down in the second half, while also having less turnovers.
Flying Under the Radar
Slowly but surely, Samantha Logan is making her presence felt. She currently is second on the team in overall rebounding (5.9 rpg) and defensive rebounding (4.2 rpg). Her overall rebounding per game ranks tied for 11th best in the Big West, while her defensive rebounding ranks tied for ninth.
Good to Be Back Home
After playing five of its first eight games on the road to start the year, Fullerton now begins what will be a season-long three game homestand: Arizona State (Dec. 14), Seattle (Dec. 21), and New Mexico State (Dec. 23).
Wrapping Up 2013
After taking on Seattle and New Mexico State, the Titans will end the 2013 calendar year on the road in Boise, Idaho versus Boise State on Dec. 29.
Finding the Right Mix
Cal State Fullerton has used six different starting lineups this season. Hailey King and Alex Thomas are the only Titans to have started in every game this season.
Miles Dishing Out Assists
After nine games, junior guard Chante Miles is second in the Big West in assists. The Compton, Calif., native has 42 assists this season and set a new career high against Alabama after dishing out eight assists. Miles previous high was seven assists, which she recorded versus Hawai'i on Jan. 3, 2013.
Individuals in the Big West
After nine games multiple Titans individually rank at the top of statistical categories for the Big West Conference. Junior Chante Miles is 10th in scoring (14.4 ppg), second in assists (4.7 apg), first in minutes played (36.3 mpg), ninth in free throw percentage (.786), and ninth in assists-to-turnovers ratio (1.17). Kathleen Iwuoha is ranked first in field goal percentage (.559), 10th in rebounds (6.0 rpg), and 7th in offensive rebounds (2.8 pg). Forward Natalie Williams is tied fifth in blocked shots per game (1.0 bpg). Samantha Logan is ranked 7th in three-point field goal percentage (.410) and sixth in three-pointers made (1.78 pg), ninth in defensive rebound (4.2 rpg), and tied for 11th in rebounding (5.9 rpg).
Bench Production
The Titans' bench has produced 129 of Fullerton's 504 total points scored this season (25 percent)...the CSUF bench has been outscored by opposition's bench 129-165 this season...Cal State Fullerton's leading scorer, Chante Miles, has come off the bench one time this season.
Fullerton's Dynamic Duo
Chante Miles and Kathleen Iwuoha have combined to score 215 of Fullerton's 504 points this season (43%). Miles has nine double-digit scoring games this season, including two 20-point performances. Iwuoha has five games in double figures.
Double-Double
Samantha Logan recorded her first career double-double (14 points, 11 rebounds) on Nov. 29 versus Toledo and was the first Titan since Kathleen Iwuoha had 15 points and 13 rebounds against Pacific on March 15, 2013 to earn a double-double. However, the Corona, Calif., native came back the next day to record another double-double versus Alabama (19 points, 11 rebounds). Also, Logan was just one point shy of posting a double-double against Columbia on Nov. 22 (9 points, 10 rebounds). Fullerton had four double-doubles during the 2012-13 season.
Milestones Reached
After the 80-54 win versus Columbia (Nov. 22), senior Alex Thomas passed the 600 career total point mark in her career and junior Chante Miles passed the 500 career point milestone. Junior Kathleen Iwuoha recorded her 400th career point in a 59-58 loss to Toledo on Nov. 29.
Scoring Threat
Chante Miles has averaged 14.4 points per game, which leads all Titan players. Miles set a new career high after scoring 21 points against Columbia on Nov. 22. The Compton, Calif., native has had double-digit scoring figures in all eight games this season and has 28 total in her career. Last season the junior guard had 19 double-digit scoring games and one 20-point game.
Balanced Scoring
Fullerton had four players score in double figures at Columbia on Nov. 22, the first time that the Titans had more than two players score 10 or more points. Junior Chante Miles upped her career best to 21 points to lead all players. Redshirt sophomore Hailey King had a career high 15 points, while junior Kathleen Iwuoha added 15 points and senior Alex Thomas scored 12. The Titans have had at least one player reach double figure scoring in each game this season.
Versus the Top 25
Iowa State was the first nationally ranked opponent for the Cal State Fullerton women's basketball program since the Titans played Gonzaga on Dec. 2, 2011 when the 24th ranked Gonzaga Bulldogs defeated Fullerton 73-60 at Titan Gym. Last season the Titans played three teams (Georgetown, Gonzaga, Pacific) that received votes in either the AP or USA Today Coaches Poll.
Fullerton has lost its last 14 consecutive games against teams either ranked or receiving votes in either poll dating back to a 68-65 win over Idaho (receiving votes in the Associated Press poll) on Jan. 24, 2004, in Moscow, Idaho... the Titans have lost their last 25 meetings with top 25 foes since posting a 75-63 victory over No. 24 (Associated Press) Long Beach State on Jan. 21, 1991.
Overall, Fullerton is 11-95 against nationally ranked competition dating to the 1977 season... the Titans have not been listed among the top 25 since Feb. 4, 1991, breaking into the Associated Press poll at No. 24 that week.

Start of a New Era
Head Coach Daron Park begins his first stint as the head coach of Cal State Fullerton women's basketball. Park spent last season as the associate head coach at USC. Park enters his first season as a head coach and is the first male head coach in Cal State Fullerton women's basketball history. Park recorded his first win as the head coach of the Titans on Nov. 22 versus Columbia.
Breaking Down the Titans
Cal State Fullerton return all five starters and 11 letterwinners overall from last season's squad that finished 11-22 overall and 5-13 in the Big West Conference, good enough for eighth place. The Titans were the No. 8 seed in last year's conference tournament, falling to Pacific in the Big West Conference Semifinals, 54-51.
The Titans have stability with the return of Chante Miles who returns as the team's leading scorer (10.5 ppg). All-Big West Conference Tournament team honoree Mya Olivier returns for her senior season as one the team's leading rebounder (5.3 rpg) and scorers (7.2 ppg) from a season ago. Twenty-eight game starter Kathleen Iwuoha also returns looking to build off a solid sophomore campaign where she averaged 5.7 points and 6.9 rebounds per game.
Guard Alex Thomas will also provide an offensive threat after averaging 8.4 ppg last season. Annie Park heads into her second season after being named to the Big West's 2013 All-Freshman team in 2012.
Titans Tabbed 7th in Big West Media Poll
The Cal State Fullerton women's basketball team was picked to finish seventh in the 2012-13 Big West Conference race according to a vote of league media members released by the conference office on Oct. 23. The Titans received 59 points to finish just behind, UC Davis which was sixth with 72 points. Cal Poly managed to edge out Hawai'i as the favorite to take home the conference crown with 17 first place votes and 177 points overall. Hawai'i was tabbed second with 159 points (three first place votes), Cal State Northridge third with 121 points, Long Beach State fourth with 120 votes, UC Santa Barbara fifth with 100 points, UC Davis sixth with 72 points, UC Irvine with 54 points, and UC Riverside ninth with 38 points.
By the Numbers
Cal State Fullerton returns 91 percent of its 1,779 points scored, 91 percent of its rebounds, 90 percent of its field goals made, 68 percent of its free throws made, and 67 percent of its block shots from a season ago.

Hit Me Your Best Shot
Cal State Fullerton boasts a rigorous 13-game non-conference schedule that includes one road contest against No. 23 Iowa State, according to the AP Preseason Poll. The Titans first road test will come in New York to face off against Albany and Columbia. Later in the month, Fullerton travels to Northern California compete against Toledo and Alabama in the SMC Hilton Concord Classic. Six of the Titans' 13 non-conference affairs will be played away from Titan Gym.

Chelsea Waddy • F/C • 6-1 • Rialto Carter High School, Calif.
Was a four-year letterwinning forward for the Rialto Carter High School basketball program, also played varsity tennis for four seasons...earned all-league honorable mention honors all four years...earned First-Team All-League honors and was named team MVP for basketball both her junior and senior seasons. Led her team in points per game (12.9), total points (336), total blocked shots (89), rebounds per game (12.2), and total rebounds (317) last season.
Samantha Logan • G/F • 5-9 • Centennial High School, Calif.
Played four seasons for the Centennial basketball team, two seasons of softball, and even a season of football her senior year...her senior season she earned the coach's excellence award, made First Team All-League, named MVP in all three tournaments Centennial played in, and made Third Team All-County...she also played quarterback for Centennial's CIF Championship football team her senior year...she went 2-for-4 with 42 passing yards (father Matt is the head coach of the Centennial football program).

Incoming Recruits for 2014-15
Head coach Daron Park announced that four high school seniors have signed National Letters of Intent to play basketball at Cal State Fullerton. Lakyn Gulley, Dashayla Johnson, Portia Neale, and Daeja Smith will enroll at Cal State Fullerton at the beginning of the 2014-15 academic school year.
"I'm absolutely thrilled with the quality of character in these four individuals," Park said. "I'm very happy with my staff for putting in the time to cultivate relationships with these student-athletes and for all the work they put in to get up to speed on the recruiting trail. These are exceptional young women and high character student-athletes, and they are going to be the cornerstones of Cal State Fullerton Women's Basketball.
"It's very exciting to have these four individuals join our family. They all possess the same goals and vision that we are trying to accomplish here at Fullerton. It means the world to me to have them on our team and it will be a very special recruiting class for this University."
Lakyn Gulley | G| 5-7 | South Side High School | Fort Wayne, Ind.
Three-year varsity starter for South Side High School in Fort Wayne, Ind...averaged 7.3 points, 2.0 assists, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.8 steals per game as a junior...during her junior year, Gulley helped lead the Archers to a 24-4 overall record, a perfect 10-0 league mark, and a trip to the Indiana State Championship game before eventually falling to Bedford North Lawrence 54-51…recorded a career-high 18 points when she knocked down 6-for-7 from three-point range vs. Fort Wayne Canterbury on Nov. 28, 2012…contributed a career-high six steals vs. Fort Wayne Bishop on Dec. 27, 2012…named to the 2012 all-conference team...had eight double-digit scoring games and 15 games with at least twothree-point field goals…plays for Pal Elite Fort Wayne AAU team.
Dashayla Johnson| G| 5-8 | Tulare Western High School |Tulare, Calif.
Averaged 24.2 points, 1.9 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 2.6 steals per per game as a junior at Tulare Western High School before suffering a foot injury that ended her season…is a three-year varsity letter winner…scored a season-high 37 points: once against Hoover High School (12/5/2012), and second vs. Bullard High School (12/6/2012)...recorded 15 double-digit scoring outings as a junior, including 12 games with at least 20 points…helped lead the Mustangs to a 20-9 overall record and 7-3 mark in league play in 2012-13...in 67 career high school games, Johnson has averaged 21.3 points, 4.8 assists, 3.6 rebounds, 5.0 steals, and 0.9 blocks per game...during her sophomore campaign, she was named to the Cal-Hi Sports All-State Basketball third team after averaging 24.3 points, 3.2 rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 5.5 steals per game.

Three-year varsity letter winner for Clovis West High School in Fresno, Calif…averaged 11.4 points per game while being named to the CIF Central Section Team as well as the All-Fresno Bee Girls Outstanding Defensive Player as a junior...helped lead the Golden Eagles to a CIF Central Section title during her junior season after a 23-6 overall record and an undefeated (10-0) conference mark...during Clovis West's playoff run, Neale's defensive presence helped the Golden Eagles knock off two-year defending Section Division I champion Hanford (57-39) in the semifinals, and top-seeded Stockdale (53-38) for the title…produced 17 double-digit scoring games…Tri-Rivers League honorable mention during her sophomore campaign.
Daeja Smith| F/C| 6-3 | Etiwanda High School |Etiwanda, Calif.
Averaged 6.8 points and 4.6 rebounds (2.75 offensive rebounds) in 28 games as a junior at Etiwanda School…a two-year varsity letter winner…recorded seven double-digit scoring performances…pulled down 129 rebounds last season…poured in a career-high 21 points on Nov. 30, 2012 vs. Carter High School after shooting 8-for-12 from the field and 5-for-8 from three-point range…recorded 17 points and 14 rebounds in a win over Rancho Cucamonga...helped lead Etiwanda to a 28-4 overall record, 14-3 league mark, and a trip to the CIF Division I championship game.
