West Claims Big West Offensive Player of the Week Honors

Big West Release

IRVINE, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton freshman Brandon West scored the first goal of his career and led his team to a 2-0 weekend to claim the Big West Offensive Player of the Week honors.

The Sweden native leads the Titans in shots (8), shots on goal (4) and points (3) while tallying his first goal and assist this weekend in victories against George Washington and Santa Clara.

West's first goal of his Titan career ended up being the game-winner Friday night when he capitalized on the empty net by heading it in. The freshman forward concluded the night with four total shots, three of them being on goal.

West also made his impact Sunday afternoon as he assisted in the game-winner to overcome Santa Clara, 2-1. The 5-11 forward found his way through the Bronco defense and laid a cross to teammate Ruben Alvarez who sealed the deal for the Titans.

The freshman is the first Titan to earn a Player of the Week honor since former Titan goalkeeper Bryan Escalante was honored in 2012.

Fullerton (2-2-0) returns to action this Sunday as they host San Francisco (2-2-0) at 2 p.m. at Titan Stadium.

Cal Poly senior goalkeeper Wade Hamilton was named the Big West Defensive Player of the Week.

Others nominated: Kaba Alkebulan (Cal Poly); Isaac Flores (Sacramento State); Lucas Mohageg (UC Davis)
