FULLERTON, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton men's soccer team played to a 1-1 tie against No. 16 Cal in an exhibition match at Sunday night at Titan Stadium.
Cal struck first as redshirt sophomore Jose Carrera-Garcia put one in the bottom left post in the 31st minute to give the Bears the 1-0 lead.
The Titans didn't answer back until sophomore Diego Sanchez capitalized on a Cal turnover with an unassisted goal to knot the score in the 73rd minute. The score remained that way through the final 90 minutes.
The two teams played one 20 minute period in which neither team scored.
The Titans return to Titan Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 22 in a final exhibition against the U17 Mexican National Team at 4:30 p.m. Prior to Saturday's game, the men's soccer team is hosting their "Train Like a Titan" day open to all current CSUF students.
The events kicks off at 9 a.m. and includes an exclusive meet and greet with the 2016 Titans, various activities, and a chalk talk from Head Coach, George Kuntz.
In addition, participants will also receive a t-shirt and entry to the match that night against the U17 Mexican National team at 4:30 p.m.
All participants must be current students and are required to present a Titan Card, a copy of their fall class schedule and $25 cash for registration.

The Titans will open the 2015 regular season at Ohio State on Aug. 28 and will have their home opener on Sept. 4 when they welcome George Washington to Titan Stadium. Tickets are now available for all Titans soccer home games.
