FULLERTON, Calif. -- Tyler Miguel tapped in a pair of goals to lead UC Riverside (7-6-3, 2-4-1) to a 2-1 win over Cal State Fullerton (6-8-1, 3-3-1).

The Titans led early as Spencer Johnson scored on a nifty decoy play from a free kick opportunity at the 12:42 mark. It was Johnson's first goal of the season.

Fullerton held the advantage until shortly after the beginning of the second half when Tyler Miguel scored off a cross from Otis Earle as he nicked it to the back of the net (46:47) for his first goal of the season.

The teams played even and physical until, with just under five minutes to play, Earle maneuvered past the Titans defender and drilled a pass to the streaking Miguel who was able to redirect it beyond the outstretched arms of Fullerton goalkeeper Bryan Escalante

"This was a very disappointing outcome for us," head coach Bob Ammann said. "I can't even talk about the first goal in the second half, but we should have finished the game off. Missed opportunities will always come back to punish you. Although we've made it more difficult on ourselves we are still three points clear and have everything to play for," he finished.

Fullerton next travels to UC Irvine for a Saturday night match and will be hungry for a win to move back into the conversation in the South Division of the Big West. (The Anteaters beat No. 5 Cal State Northridge this evening, 1-0.)
