FULLERTON, Calif.- The Cal State Fullerton men's golf team finished its first day of competition in first place in the Del Walker Intercollegiate Golf Classic at the Virginia Country Club in Long Beach, Calif., on Monday.

The Titans shot 553 to finish 7-under-par after shooting a first round 277 (-3) and second round of 276 (-4). Heading into the final 18 holes, Fullerton is currently one stroke in the lead.

After two rounds, the Titans are followed by Minnesota and UC Santa Barbara with an overall score of 556 (-4), Arizona (-3, 557), and Wichita State (+4, 565).

With a total score of 132 (-8) through day one, Cal State Fullerton's Mark Anguiano tops the individual leaderboard, followed by teammate Corey Gard and Kyler Sauer of CSU-Northridge with a mark of  (-5, 135). Jon Trasamar of Minnesota and Kyle Weldon round out the top-five with a day one score of (-4, 136).

While leading the individual standings, senior Anguiano shot a 4-under-par 66 in both the first and second round. Fellow senior Gard shot a first round 67 (-3), and second round 68 (-2) to finish tied for second place while chasing teammate Anguiano for the tournament lead.

Junior Ryan Tetrault shot a first round 69 (-1), and second round 70 (E) to finish tied for 10th place with an overall score of 1-under-par 139 after 36 holes.

Senior Josh Park and freshman Kyle De Silva finished the day tied for 44th with an overall score of 147 (+7), while shooting a first round five-over-par 75 and second round 2-over-par 72, respectively.

Senior Scott Rubzin and sophomore Mark Jensma competed as individuals, firing a total score of 150 to stand at 10-over-par while both are tied for 53rd in the tournament, respectively. Rubzin and Jensma matched scores with a 75 (+5) first and second rounds to conclude the day.
