FULLERTON, Calif.-- After finishing fifth at the Jones Invitational in the Somis, Calif., last weekend the Cal State Fullerton men's golf team heads to Long Beach, Calif., to participate in the 18th Del Walker Intercollegiate Golf Classic as one of 11 teams competing in the two-day tournament on Mar. 3-4.
THE COURSE: The two-day event will be contested at the Virginia Country Club, playing at 6,582 yards from the tournament tees and par 70 for the 54-hole event. Play begins at 8:30 a.m. for the first and second round on Monday and will conclude Tuesday for the final 18 holes at 8 a.m.
THE FIELD: Competing alongside the Titans will be squads from Arizona, Colorado State, Cal State Northridge, Denver, Grand Canyon, Kansas State, Minnesota, UC Santa Barbara, Wichita State and host Long Beach State.

IN THE RANKINGS: Cal State Fullerton is ranked No. 45 in the nation according to the Golfstat.com NCAA team rankings, facing a field that features all 10 other competing teams ranked below the Titans: Minnesota is No. 78, Colorado State is No. 96, host Long Beach State is No. 101, Arizona is No. 105, Kansas State is No. 123, Wichita State is No. 138, Denver is No. 140, UC Santa Barbara is No. 166, Cal State Northridge is No. 184 and Grand Canyon is currently unranked.
According to the Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings, Fullerton is one of four top-100 ranked teams in the competition rated at No. 55; The rest of the field: Minnesota is No. 66, Colorado State is No. 96, host Long Beach State is No. 98, Arizona is No. 105, Kansas State is No. 120, Denver is No. 139, Wichita State is No. 149, UC Santa Barbara is No. 173, Cal State Northridge is No. 183 and Grand Canyon is No. 195.
DEL WALKER INTERCOLLEGIATE: This week will mark the fourth-ever participation for the Titans in the Del Walker Intercollegiate Golf Classic in Southern California hosted by Long Beach State. Colorado State owns the most titles in the tournament's history during a three-year reign from 2007-09. This is the 18th time Long Beach State has hosted the Del Walker, including a title in the most recent 2013 event posting a total score of (284-280-274--838, -2).

A LOOK BACK: Fullerton junior Ryan Tetrault finished in sixth place with an overall score of 222 (+6) to pace the Titans to a fifth place finish at the Jones Invitational at the Saticoy Golf Club in City of Somis, Calif. on Feb. 24-25, 2014. The Titans shot 600 (+24) over the first day of play, including a 300 (+12) second round and a score of 306 (+18) in the third round to finish 906 (+42). Fullerton finished 25-strokes behind the tournament champions San Diego State who shot an overall score of (881, +17). The Aztecs shot a final round of 292 (+4) to clinch the title.
Southern California followed with a final round score of 297 (+9) to finish with an overall score of (882, +18). San Diego finished the tournament shooting a 24-over-par 888 to finish in third place, while Brigham Young shot a final round score of 300 (+12) to finish in the invitation 36-over par 900 to round out the top five.
Senior Mark Anguiano dropped three slots from day one in shooting a final round 75 (+3) to finish in 26th with an 11-over-par 227. Fellow senior Corey Gard finished tied for 27th with an overall score of 228 (+12) to lead the Titans. Anguiano shot a team best of 71 (E) in the first round. Junior Josh Park shot 82 (+10) on Tuesday and ended the tournament 16-over par to tie for 33rd in the standings. Fullerton freshman Kyle De Silva finished 25-over par with an overall score of 241 for the Titans.
HOME SWEET HOME: Cal State Fullerton excelled not only as a team, but individually at its host event in City of Industry, Calif., in the Folino Invitational on Feb. 17-18. Seven out of the 11 Titans on the 2013-14 Men's Roster produced their best finishes of the season:

• Three Titans have taken over 1,400 strokes on the season (Gard 1,516; Tetrault 1482; Anguiano 1,469)
• Fullerton has had 18 under-70 rounds this season led by 12 from Mark Anguiano, and three apiece from junior Ryan Tetrault and senior Corey Gard.
