FULLERTON, Calif. -- The Cal State Fullerton men's golf program has announced the signing of two high-school standouts to National Letters of Intent to continue their academic and athletic careers with the Titans, Head Coach Jason Drotter announced.
Michael Alvarez (Henderson, Nev./Coronado HS) and David Stitt (Simi Valley, Calif./Royal HS) will join Fullerton's roster beginning with the 2014-15 season.
Brief bios for each of the signees are below.
MICHAEL ALVAREZ
Two-year varsity letter winner at Diamond Ranch High School in Pomona, Calif., before transferring to Coronado High School in Henderson, Nev., during his junior year… was the individual champion and named the tournament MVP at the Hacienda League Championship for Diamond Ranch at the Santa Anita Golf Course in 2012 after posting a score of 207 (-6)… helped lead the Coronado Cougars to a SE Division title, a second place finish at the Regional tournament, and a third place finish at the Nevada state tournament as a junior… as an amateur he finished first at the Cleveland Golf/Srixon Championship at Black Gold Course on June 17-18, 2013 and at the 4th Annual Southern California Professional Golfers Association (SCPGA) Jack Kramer Memorial invite at Los Serranos Golf Course in Chino Hills, Calif.
DAVID STITT
Four-year varsity letter winner at Royal High School in Simi Valley, Calif… helped Royal finish second in the Marmonte League….was named to the All-Marmonte League second-team in 2012 and 2013… was also named to the first-team All- Marmonte League and second-team All-Ventura County as a freshmen… voted the Ventura County Junior Golf Association Player of the year in 2011… was the runner-up at the American Junior Golf Association at River Ridge golf course in Oxnard, Calif., in the spring of 2013 after losing in a playoff hole... posted a tournament score of 143 (-1) at the AJGA tournament… finished fourth at the Ultimate Sport Profiles Open on Nov. 9-10, 2013.
