Khalil Ahmad Named CEBL Most Valuable Player

FULLERTON, Calif. – After an outstanding regular season with the Niagara River Lions, Khalil Ahmad has been named the Canadian Elite Basketball League's Most Valuable Player. 

Ahmad averaged a league-high 20.7 points, team-high 4.5 assists, and 1.9 steals (fourth best in the league), while shooting 45% from the field on his way to earning the Most Valuable Player honours. He was also fourth for Niagara in rebounds per game (4.0) and led the River Lions to a 13-7 record and second place finish in the CEBL's regular season standings.

Ahmad, the 2015 Big West Freshman of the Year, is one of just five athletes in school history to earn All-Conference honors three or more times during their careers and he's the first since Bobby Brown (2004-07). Ahmad finished his career with 1,768 points and 472 rebounds, averaging 15.1 points and 4 rebounds per game. Ahmad was part of the 2018 team that took Cal State Fullerton to its third ever NCAA Tournament appearance.
