Men's Basketball Inks Four Newcomers

FULLERTON, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton head men's basketball coach Dedrique Taylor announced four new signees for the upcoming 2021-22 season.

 Damari Milstead | 6-2 | Guard | Oakland, Calif. | Transfer from University of San Francisco

  • Played in 22 games in 2020-21 making four starts for the Dons...logged 331 minutes averaging 15.1 minutes per contest for his redshirt junior season
  • Started 26 of 34 games at GCU as a sophomore and led team with 122 assists in the 2018-19 season
  • 62% winning percentage in first two years at GCU before transferring to USF
  • Winningest player in Moreau Catholic HS (100-29) school history
  • The San Francisco Chronicle 2016-17 Boys Metro Player of the Year
  • Won three North Coast Section titles in 4 years of HS

"Damari is an exceptional talent with a great deal of maturity and experience," Taylor said. "He has a very high IQ and is interested in making others around him better, which leads to our version of success. We are fortunate to have him join us and excited to see his impact on our program."

Ibrahim Doumbia | 6-7 | Forward | Bamako, Mali | Transfer from University of Central Florida

    • Played in five games at UCF during his redshirt junior 2020-21 season 
    • Competed in 21 games at UCF as a redshirt sophomore 
    • Played in 12 games off the bench at South Carolina as a freshman during the 2017-18 season
    • Cousin of Cheick Diallo (New Orleans Pelicans)
    • 4-star recruiting to ESPN.com and 3-star recruit according to 247sports.com
    • Averaged 27pts, 19rebs and 4blks as a HS senior
    • 2017 5A-2A First Team All-Dade County by Miami Herald
    • 2017 Miami Dade County All-Star Team
    • Represented Mali on the National Team at the FIBA Africa U-18 Championships in 2016

EJ Anosike | 6-7 | Forward | East Orange, N.J. | Transfer from University of Tennessee

    • At Tennessee for the 2020-21 season, he saw action off the bench in 22 contests, including 15 SEC games in SEC play.
    • More than half of his rebounds (22 of 42) came on the offensive glass.
    • Spent three years at Sacred Heart University before transferring to University of Tennessee as a grad transfer

"EJ is pursuing his MBA which is unique itself, but his maturity extends well beyond his age," Taylor said. "His energy is contagious along with his desire to win. He has been very productive and efficient over the course of his career. His style of play is unique but one that I have coveted for a very long time. He is driven by one thing, winning. Our program is in need of his type of mentality and work ethic. Needless to say, I am excited to be a part of his success."

Lado Laku | 6-10 | Forward | Dallas, Texas | Transfer from Texas A&M Corpus Christi

  • Saw action in 11 games as a freshman at Texas A&M Corpus Christi
  • Accumulated 25 points, six rebounds, five blocks and two steals on the year
  • Earned All-State, All-League, and All-District in his last year at Lake Highlands HS
  • Helped lead HS to state playoff appearance while averaging 8ppg, 7rpg, 4bpg and shooting 68% from the floor
  • Ranked as the No. 79 ranked high school player in Texas

"Lado, gives us length, height, athleticism and his youth excites me," Taylor said. "Aside from the combination of physical attributes, he is a great young man with a high IQ and will fit into our program very well. He brings some experience but his best is ahead of him and I am anxious to be a part of that experience with him."
