FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton (16-20) dropped a midweek game to No. 1 UCLA (31-7) Tuesday night at Goodwin Field by a final score of 8-3.

Joe Magrisi started the game on the mound for the Titans and looked strong in just his second start of the season, pitching four innings giving up six hits and two earned runs to the top-ranked team in the country. While Magrisi did show signs of brilliance, he gave up two runs in the fourth which earned him the loss to move to 0-2 on the season.

UCLA's Jesse Bergin picked up the win to move to 5-0 this season. Bergin pitched five innings, giving up three hits and one earned run while walking three batters.

Dillon Brown pitched the seventh and eighth inning in relief and allowed just two hits and one earned run. In 12 appearances and 20.2 innings pitched this season Brown has a 1.31 ERA which leads the team.

Mitchell Berryhill continued his incredible streak Tuesday night against UCLA as he drew a walk in his first at-bat to extend his on-base streak to 45 consecutive games. Berryhill went 2-for-3 with one walk, one RBI and a run. The senior is batting .447 which leads the Big West Conference and ranks fourth in the entire country.

After giving up five unanswered runs, the Titans scored two runs in the sixth inning to cut into the Bruins lead. Sahid Valenzuela got the inning started with leadoff walk before advancing to second on a wild pitch. Berryhill then came up clutch like he has all season with a double to left field, driving in Valenzuela.

Following a walk from Jairus Richards, Jackson Lyon was able to load the bases with a single to center field. Jacob Pavletich then crushed a ball to right center field which was just a few feet short of a grand slam, however, was deep enough to drive in Berryhill and close the gap.

Fullerton returns to action Friday night as UC Irvine comes to Goodwin Field for an all important three-game conference. First pitch Friday night is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. PT.
