Titans Stay Undefeated on Sunday's with 12-3 Win Over JMU

FULLERTON, Calif. – For the fourth time in six games the Titans scored double-digit runs as they defeated James Madison 12-3 Sunday afternoon at Goodwin Field.

With the win the Titans are now 8-9 on the season and are undefeated on Sunday games with a record of 5-0. Fullerton's wins on Sunday's have come against strong competition with wins over Virginia, Oklahoma, Stanford, New Mexico and James Madison.

In the first two games of the series the Titans allowed the first run of the game to JMU, Sunday the Titans got on the board first with one run in the first and two runs in the second inning. Fullerton recorded 14 hits in the win which is the eighth time this season they have recorded 10 or more hits in a game this season.

Just like clockwork, Hank LoForte reached base safely on a RBI single in the second to extend his on-base streak to 62 consecutive games. LoForte's remarkable on-base streak leads the nation for long active streak. The senior went 2-for-5 with two RBI and two runs.

All but one Titan batter recorded a hit in Sunday's contest while every player that had an at-bat reached base safely in the 12-3 victory. Fullerton was consistent throughout the day, scoring at least one run in five of the eight innings.

Mitchell Berryhill extended a couple streaks of his own Sunday as he went 2-for-5 with two RBI and one run to extended his hitting streak to eight straight game while reaching base safely in all 17 games this season.

Freshman Michael Knorr looked like anything but a freshman on the mound for the Titans as he pitched seven scoreless innings while giving up just two hits and striking out three batters. Knorr picked up his first win of the season and is now 1-1 on the year.

Gavin Velasquez and Titus Groeneweg finished off the final few innings for the Titans while allowing just one hit each and giving up no runs.

Isaiah Garcia had another strong day at the dish, going 2-for-4 on the afternoon with two RBI. In 13 games this season, Garcia is hitting .417 with a .500 on-base percentage and a .611 slugging percentage. 

Jairues Richards and Jordan Hernandez were key for the Titans, coming in midway through the game as a designated hitter and left-fielder, respectively. Richards went 2-for-3 with two RBI and and a run while Hernandez went 1-for-1 with two RBI. 

Fullerton is back in action Tuesday night as the team heads south for a mid-week matchup with the University of San Diego at 6:00 p.m. at Fowler Park.
