Titans Announce 2015 Signing Class

FULLERTON, Calif.– Cal State Fullerton has announced that 14 players have signed National Letters of Intent to play baseball for the Titans.

The Titans 2015 signing class includes six pitchers and eight position players with five players ranked in the top-100 prospects in California as evaluated by Perfect Game. The Titans also showcase two players ranked in the top-200 national prospects as evaluated by Perfect Game.

Fullerton is coming off the 40th consecutive winning season and 30-win season in the program's NCAA Division I history. The Titans advanced to their 23rd consecutive NCAA Tournament in 2014.

Cal State Fullerton's 2014 recruiting class was ranked No. 10 by Collegiate Baseball and No. 24 by Perfect Game. The 2014 class was also designated as part of the "Next 10" by Baseball America, which named the next 10 best recruiting classes after the top 25.

Named to Perfect Game 2014 Underclass 3rd Team following junior season… Earned All-Empire League Second Team nod… Named one of the top high school players by OCVarsity.com… Helped lead the Centurions to Empire League title in 2014... Brother Tyler Alamo plays with Chicago Cubs Class A affiliate South Bend.

Coach Vanderhook: "Brandon is an extremely physical left-handed hitter and has potential for major power. He is a middle-of-the-order type player who will have an opportunity to come in an make an impact immediately."

Chris Ceballos | C/INF | 6-1 | 215 | R/R | Chino Hills, Calif. | Chino Hills HS

Named Perfect Game Underclass Honorable Mention in 2013 and 2014 and ranked the 90th best prospect in California by Perfect Game… Earned All-Sierra League First Team nod as a junior… Batted .380 with two home runs, 12 doubles and 21 RBI to go along with five stolen bases in 2014… Named a team captain for his upcoming senior season.

Coach Vanderhook: "Chris displays great leadership and has potential bat with plus power at the plate. He is also a very skilled catcher with a good feel for the position with a good arm."

Named Perfect Game Underclass Honorable Mention in 2013 and 2014… Rated the 31st best prospect in the state and top-200 in the nation by Perfect Game… Played travel ball with SGV Arsenal along with fellow Fullerton commits Gavin Velasquez and Chris Ceballos.

Coach Vanderhook: "Eric has a good arm and a great feel for pitching. He has played highly competitive baseball and is well coached baseball between his high school team and his travel ball program."

Eric Charles | OF | 5-11 | 165 | L/L | Visalia, Calif. | Redwood HS

Has played three years on the varsity squad for head coach Dan Hydash… Helped lead the Rangers to a West Yosemite League title as a junior… Hit .379 with 15 stolen bases and 15 RBI as a sophomore in 2013.

Coach Vanderhook: "An athletic outfielder; Eric's hustle and excellent defensive skills caught the eye of the Titans coaching staff.  Eric can also handle the bat very well and that will make him a valuable asset to the offense."

Brett Conine | RHP/INF | 6-3 | 215 | R/R | Orange, Calif. | El Modena HS

Named to All-Century League Second Team as a junior… Posted a 1.75 ERA in 30 innings pitched with 22 strikeouts and eight walks… Also batted .321 in 67 plate appearances with three doubles, seven runs scored and nine RBI... Played summer ball with Trombly Baseball in Orange County along with fellow Fullerton commit Coby Kauhaahaa.

Coach Vanderhook: Brett can command 3 pitches and his mentality fits great into the Titan mold. He has the potential to be a weekend starter." 

Brendon Davis | SS | 6-4 | 170 | R/R | Lakewood, Calif. | Lakewood HS

Named Perfect Game 2014 Underclass First Team after a 2013 Underclass Second Team nod as a sophomore… Rated the 129th best national prospect and 19th best prospect in California by Perfect Game… Batted .381 in 101 plate appearances as a junior and had six doubles, one home run with 16 RBI for the Lancers... Played for the Brewers representing Southern California at the 2014 Area Code Games.

Coach Vanderhook: "Brendon is a high-profile, and extremely athletic infielder who has the potential to hit in the third or fourth spot in our lineup and be a productive asset for the offense."

Colton Eastman | RHP | 6-3 | 200 | R/R | Fresno, Calif. | Central HS

Named Perfect Game 2014 Underclass High Honorable Mention… Also ranked as the 35th best prospect in California… Earned First Team All Tri-Rivers Athletic Conference honors as a junior… Named team's most valuable player… Posted a 9-5 record with 1.38 ERA and 110 strikeouts in 86 innings as a junior for the Grizzlies.

Coach Vanderhook: "Colton is a top-tier right-hander who we feel he has the stuff and potential to be a staple in our weekend rotation."

Coby Kauhaahaa | INF | 6-1 | 190 | R/R | Placentia, Calif. | Valencia HS

Batted .283 with a .364 on-base percentage as a junior for the Tigers… Scored 25 runs and had three doubles, two triples, two home runs and 17 RBI to go along with six stolen bases… Named to the Empire League All-Academic Team in 2013 and 2014 and won Varsity Scholar Award in 2013 and 2014... Played summer ball with Trombley Baseball in Orange County along with fellow Titans commit Brett Conine.

Coach Vanderhook: "Coby is an athletic middle infielder who has a lot of tools and has the skill-set to play three infield positions for us. He also grew up a Titans fan and knows what it means to play baseball at Cal State Fullerton."

Nick Kaye | OF | 6-0 | 160 | L/L | Glendora, Calif. | Glendora HS

Named a team captain for the Tartans as a junior and stole 19 bases… Helped lead the Tartans to a Baseline League title in 2014… Batted .279 with 19 runs scored, one home run, three doubles and 10 RBIs as a junior.

Coach Vanderhook: "Nick is a good, instinctual player and is an athletic left-handed bat. There has been a long line of Titans from Glendora High School like Aaron Rowand and Wes Roemer and Nick could be a solid addition to that list."

Named Perfect Game 2014 Underclass Honorable Mention… Earned First Team All-Delta League, All-City, All-Metro and All-State accolades as a junior… Named offensive MVP after batting .408 with 11 doubles, two triples and 20 RBI along with 17 stolen bases.

Coach Vanderhook: "Hank is a four year starter at Franklin. He is a prototypical leadoff hitter and can play all the positions in the middle of the field. Hank reminds me of a left-handed hitter along the lines of Dave Bacani." 

Josh Rios | C/RHP | 6-2 | 210 | R/R | Lakewood, Calif. | Long Beach Poly HS

Named First Team All-Moore League in 2014… Ranked the 147th best prospect in California by Perfect Game… Earned MVP and Gold Glove Awards… Four years on the Honor Roll at Long Beach Poly.

Coach Vanderhook: "Josh comes from a great baseball family and understands the importance of doing things the right way.  Josh is a converted catcher to pitcher and will bolster the back end of the bullpen with his power stuff."

Gavin Velasquez | RHP | 6-2 | 170 | R/R | Covina, Calif. | South Hills HS

Named Perfect Game 2014 Underclass Honorable Mention… Went 10-1 with a 0.67 ERA as a junior, posting 75 strikeouts and 13 walks in 83 and 2/3 innings… Allowed opposing batters to hit just .196 with a .254 on-base percentage… Earned team MVP honors and named First Team All-Sierra League, First Team All-Valley, First Team All-CIF and First Team All-State as a junior.

Coach Dietrich: "Gavin is a three-pitch guy who has a huge upside. He will come in and compete for innings as a freshman and has a great track record throughout his high school career."

Zach Weisz | OF | 5-9 | 155 | R/R | Poway, Calif. | La Jolla Country Day HS

Named Perfect Game 2014 Underclass Honorable Mention… Batted .270 with a .361 on-base percentage, three RBI and stole 11 bases as a junior.

Coach Vanderhook: "Zack's outfield skills and plus-arm will fit in well with the Titans philosophy of lockdown defense."

Blake Workman | RHP | 6-2 | 190 | R/R | Ramona, Calif. | Ramona HS

Made seven starts and nine appearances as a junior for Ramona HS, posting a 5-2 record with a 1.37 ERA… Helped lead the Bulldogs to a Valley League title as a junior… Allowed 31 hits and 13 walks with 42 strikeouts in 41 innings… Named All-Valley League as a junior… Named a Perfect Game 2014 Underclass Honorable Mention.

Coach Vanderhook: "Blake's work ethic and hard-nosed mentality has propelled him into a top pitching prospect.  Blake is one of six pitchers in this recruiting class that we expect to come and compete for quality innings."
