Titans Set to Host UC Santa Barbara For First Fall Ball Game

FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton will get its first taste of competitive baseball this week as the Titans host UC Santa Barbara for a fall baseball game Saturday afternoon at Goodwin Field.

First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday and is free to attend for Titans fans. The teams will play a nine-inning game followed by three or four innings of situations.

The Titans are scheduled to pitch the following, in no particular order: Tyler Peitzemeier, Chad Hockin, Connor Seabold, Henry Omana, John Gavin, Max Gibbs, Willie Kuhl, Miles Chambers, and Kyle Murray.

In 2014, Peitzmeier made 23 appearances and posted a 2.40 ERA with 15 strikeouts in 15 innings pitched. Entering his senior season with the Titans, Peitzmeier has made 67 appearances and has amassed a 4-0 record with a 1.63 ERA. He's pitched 66 and 1/3 innings and fanned 54 batters with 18 walks.

Kuhl is another senior on the Titans pitching staff and posted a 1.37 ERA in 18 appearances last season with 29 strikeouts and 11 walks. In his career, Kuhl has made 60 appearances and fanned 104 batters in 82 and 1/3 innings pitched.

Hockin and Chambers made their Fullerton debuts in 2014 and combined to make 24 appearances including a start apiece. Hockin had 12 strikeouts while Chambers finished the year with a 2.87 ERA in 15 and 2/3 innings pitched.

Gibbs pitched one scoreless frame in 2014 while Omana did not make an appearance after pitching in five games in 2013. Murray pitched in five games with the Titans in 2013.

Seabold and Gavin are a part of the Titans 2015 recruiting class, which was ranked No. 10 by Collegiate Baseball.

The Titans and Gauchos will meet on May 8-10, 2015 at Goodwin Field in the upcoming season. It will be the Gauchos' first trip to Fullerton since 2013 when the Titans took two of three games en route to a 51-10 overall record, the second best winning percentage in Fullerton history.

The Titans are coming off the 40th consecutive winning season and 30-win season in the program's NCAA Division I history. Fullerton advanced to its 23rd consecutive NCAA Tournament in 2014.
