Irvine, Calif. – Leading Cal State Fullerton for the second time this season – and the fifth time in his career – junior Jose Penaloza earned Big West Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors as he finished within the top 10 at the Mustang Challenge.
Penaloza placed eighth in a time of 25:28.55 to lead the Titans to a fourth-place finish at the Santa Clarita, Calif.-based meet. He improved by 30 seconds from his 2014 time on the same 8K Central Park course.
During his career at Fullerton, Penaloza has totaled four top-10 finishes.
This is the first Big West Cross Country Athlete of the Week honor that Penaloza has received.
