College Station, Texas - Cal State Fullerton women's track and field wrapped up competition at the NCAA West Preliminaries on Saturday in College Station, Texas. Samantha Huerta qualified for the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore., on June 9-12. Huerta will compete in the 800-meter race at the championships for the second time in her career.

Huerta took third place in heat one with an 800-meter time of 2:05.00 to automatically qualify for the semifinal of the event in Eugene. That semifinal will take place on June 10 at 5:14 p.m. PT. Her time was good for eighth place overall in the event. She is the only Titan in program history to compete at the NCAA Championships in the event and will now do it for the second time. In 2019, she earned second-team All-America accolades with a 14th-place finish.

2019 All-American Iesha Hamm competed as well and she tied for 19th place in the women's high jump as she cleared 5-9.75 (1.77m) on her third and final try. That was not enough to return to the NCAA Championships for the second time in her career.  She opened up with a clearance of 5-7.75 (1.72m) on her first attempt. She then cleared 1.77m before she missed on all three tries at 5-11.5 (1.82m), the deciding height of the competition.
