TF Completes Titan Twilight, On To Championship Season

FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton track and field is set to hosted its third and final meet of the season on Friday in the Titan Twilight. This meet was the final tune-up for the Titans ahead of the Big West Championships at UC Santa Barbara next weekend. 

Sandra Flores won the 800 meters with a personal-best time of 2:11.11, tied for the sixth-best mark in the conference this year. 

Shelby Noble won the women's pole vault with a mark of 12-3.5 (3.75m). Marcel Sylvester tied his personal-best mark of 6-9 (2.06m) to win the men's high jump. 

Lauren Delgadillo (12.30) and Chudney McGehee (12.61) took sixth and seventh place in the 100 meters, respectively. 

Trevor Gorwin won the men's shot put with a season-best toss of 56-3 (17.14m), the No. 4 mark in the Big West. Gorwin also led the way for the men to take 2-3-4-5 in the men's hammer with his toss of 194-2 (59.18m) to take second place. 

Blake Rose took third in the 400-meter hurdles (55.46), sixth in the 110-meter hurdles (15.24) and fourth in the javelin (151-3, 46.10m).  Michael Robbins led the way for Fullerton in the 110-meter hurdles at 14.96. 

Demi Marine led the Titans in the women's 1,500 meters with a personal-best time of 4:48.10. Jessica Ruiz was right behind her at 4:48.16, also a personal best. Kevin McNulty took seventh in the men's 1,500-meter race at 4:06.25. 

Ryann Mojica long jumped 18-5 (5.61m), just a centimeter off her personal best, to take fourth place on the women's side. Bertha Sola (159-7, 58.65m) and Sierra Valdivieso (154-3, 47.01m) went 5-6 in the women's discus. Sinai Fatafehi's toss of 41-1 (12.52m) was good for third place in the women's shot put. The trio of throwers went 2-3-4 in the women's hammer with Fatafehi leading the way at 174-5 (53.17m), followed by Validivieso's personal best (169-0, 51.52m)and Sola (151-1, 46.06m). 

With the 2019 season under way, cross country and track and field head coach John Elders is in his 31st season at the helm of each program making him the longest tenured head coach in the history of Cal State Fullerton. Cal State Fullerton won the 2017 Big West Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championships, the first conference title in program history, then repeated that feat in 2018 to become back-to-back champions.
