Titans Wrap Up Eventful Weekend at the Beach Invitational

LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton men and women's track and field team wrapped up its busy weekend with the one-day Beach Invitational meet hosted by Big West Conference foe Long Beach State behind a top-five finish by Malik Johnson in the high jump.

The Sophomore Titan high jumper took home his fifth top-five finish in the event this season after taking home fifth place at the Beach Invite with a jump of 2.05 meters.  The Woodland Hills, Calif. native was the lone Fullerton student-athlete competing in the high jump on Saturday and took advantage of the spotlight with the top finish of any Titan on the day.

Ty'Jalayah Robertson competed in the high jump event for the Titan women, tying a season-best jump of 1.65m to tie for 26th place overall.

The Fullerton sprinters also had a solid day on the track with both of the Titan men posting season-best times in their respective events.  Mason Rollins was the only CSF participant in the 100m dash on Saturday, crossing the finish line in 10.87 seconds to take home 37th place overall.  Mason Guzman-Sanchez also earned a season-best time in his event, the 110m hurdles, finishing in 21st place with a time of 14.89 sec.

Taylor Frank was the lone representative for the Titan women sprinting squad on Saturday, finishing the 100m dash in 12.87 sec and the 100m hurdles in 14.87 sec.

Three men competed in the shot put at the Beach Invite as Trevor Gorwin came out as the top finisher for the Titan men, posting a throw of 16.05 meters which earned him a 16th place finish.  Steven Parsons threw a distance of 13.21m while JaQuan Scott earned a 38th place finish with a throw of 13.62m.

Fullerton will compete in the University of California, San Diego Triton Invite on Apr. 24-25 for their next meet action.
