Cal State Fullerton Basketball Participates in HoopStars Clinic

FULLERTON, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton men and women’s basketball teams hosted and participated in a clinic for developmentally disabled players of all-ages of the HoopStars organization last Saturday.

The clinic featured current Titan student-athletes coaching the HoopStars players in all facets of the game.  Along with their efforts to get to know the HoopStars players, the Titans even had time to show off their own skills during a dunk contest.

This is the fourth HoopStars clinic Fullerton has participated in, proving once again to be an unforgettable experience for all involved.

“We’re thrilled to be part of such a worthwhile event,” second-year head women’s basketball coach Daron Park said.  “It’s funny when you think about it, I know that the young kids that come and are apart of it get a lot out of it, but quite honestly, we might get more from them.  It really helped set the stage for who we are and what we want to be about this season.”

The HoopStars organization provides the developmentally disabled community with an opportunity to play basketball while creating a chance to improve self-esteem and social skills.  The organization supports over 400 players in three leagues in Los Angeles and Orange County.
