FULLERTON, Calif. – Sometimes the box score doesn't tell the entire story. Cal State Fullerton battled and even had a lead in every set, but in the end couldn't close the deal, as UC Riverside earned a 3-0 (25-22, 25-23, 25-22) victory over the Titans, Saturday evening inside Titan Gym.
Almost every Titan who played did their part, but it just wasn't quite enough. Summer Kerins had an efficient match, as she led Fullerton with nine kills on an efficient .350 attack percentage. She also came through with a block assist.
Courtney Mueller led all players with 32 assists, while also coming away with four kills on a .286 attack percentage. She also recorded five digs. Savahna Costello led all players with 26 digs on the evening. Madeline Schneider and Felicia Marshall each came through with eight kills apiece, while Haley Carmo and Gabrielle Barcelos checked in with five kills. Carmo also led Fullerton with three block assists.
The score was tied 17 times during the match and featured nine lead changes. The Titans' sideout percentage was solid all night long, as they were above 50 percent in all three sets.
The Titans will try and get back in the win column, as they'll travel to UC Irvine to take on the Anteaters, Thursday at 7 pm PT. This will mark the first of a three-match road swing.
